Hey I want to start doing my own makeup, have looked on YouTube and it seems a bit daunting and complicated? So I just wanted to ask what are the minimum basics I need to get started? Tia

(Match your skin tone correctly)

A eye shadow palette

Eyebrow pencil

Mascara

Lipstick

Thats the basics, as you progress your make up bag will get bigger. Good luck!

Get yourself a good match for foundation/ concealer. Get help with it.

Get a decent (cheap) set of brushes (Elf, Ecotools)

Practice your technique a lot in private - patience and lots of makeup remover

Work out what kind of look(s) you're trying to achieve and what you need to make that happen.

Really as a start I wouldn’t go out a spend a fortune, just get some basics to get going with and practise applying it.

The three mains for me would bd foundation, lippy and mascara,

As you get more skilled at application and figure out what works, then you can start adding bit by bit and start spending a bit more for the good stuff.

I’ve found that Nivea tinted moisturiser is a good, all round, non expensive foundation that suits pretty much anyone if you don’t put too much on in one go.

It’s all about the tools you use! Get a set of good brushes and a beauty blender.

In all honesty I use TikTok for make up tutorials now. It’s so easy to find the artist that fits with your make up style.

Also eye liner is always hard so don’t let it put you off.

I'm absolutely useless at make up, I've only recently started putting eyeshadow on with a brush and not my fingers....

But a good primer, foundation and mascara do wonders.

I'm a huge fan of Estée Lauder double wear.

I know what you mean, I’m not putting glue anywhere near my peepers lol

I do remembering seeing a product a while ago that promised an eyeliner that had metallic compound it which allowed magnetic false eyelashes to stick to it.

Sounds too far fetched for me, one of those gimmicks that could never deliver but might be worth a look I guess

The only musts for me are eyeliner and mascara. I look like death without.

But the false eyelashes yeah you get get these magnetic ones, you draw a line on and then they kinda stick...is it obvious I've never used them?

If you go into boots they usually have a counter where they’ll colour match your foundation for you, if you think you’ll struggle a little getting the right shade.

Elf has some good products at reasonable prices if you’re just starting out
