Thanks for making an apperance and pretty much stopping every plan I had this weekend for my birthday... I am more gutted I am not seeing my parents than anything else....

nightmare aint it .. meant to be flying later tonight but not sure that the airport is even open. There website seems to have gone down as well which is a great help ! Hope you have a nice birthday regardless of the weather.

Took me 9 hours to drive from Carlisle to Woking cos of snow ! Two crashed ploughs and people driving at 5 mph if you go out allow 10 x the usual time

I got home at 4am thanks snow

I have heard the m6 isn't very passable, they were doing 10mph head to tail!

Out here in Austria, there are tons of snow, literally and people live with it on a daily basis, at least through the winter month. They would nt survive without being prepared for it... but then they experience this weather all the time.

When I recently asked who of the forumites would invest in buying proper winter tyres (I always have done) most people said they would not for the few days a year that they were required...

because we dont have the infrastructure, road networks, mentality to deal with it. if we lived somewhere that got heavy snow more often and for longer we would do better
