House coat makes me think of some sort of Hefner velvet get up. Or something the old dears would wear.

Depends if you're getting it yourself or if your butler is fetching it.

"Dressing gown!!! "

Correct!

But …

There is an old Glaswegian thing about calling it a housecoat. (One word, you’ll note. Not two.) It’s what an auld Weegie granny would say.

Bathrobe or dressing gown.

Isn’t a house coat one of those sleeveless, button-up things your nan would wear over her clothes when dusting or doing the laundry?!

It’s a dressing gown. I’d only ever call it a bathrobe if it was white towelling and worn at a spa.

Potayto Potarto ..... what's it matter.

I interchange dressing gown and housecoat. I mostly say housecoat.

I'd never say bathrobe or maybe I would if I had one that hangs on the bathroom door and is only for changing for bathing.

I wear mine in the house so it's a housecoat.

I think dressing gown is for when the servants have to dress royalty and they are robed or gowned instead of being nudey while they dress. I don't know but I bet it is.

Anyway ... im going to find out the difference cos it's piqued my interest.

The internet sayssssssss

Bathrobes and dressing gowns are similar, but while bathrobes tend to be designed to be absorbent and are intended for use after a bath, dressing gowns are often thinner and are generally worn after getting out of bed. A housecoat will often be worn casually throughout the day and into the evening.

Depends on the settings

Sitting with someone

Slip dress stocking lingerie

Sitting around the house

unitards or as some may know them as playsuits or jumpsuits
