We've been told to carefully plan our journey, to consider an overnight bag, they put us up in nearby hotels to ensure we don't miss work

Nope. I'd already booked the day off, but we all received emails today telling us to take our laptops home tonight & work from home if necessary.

Just checked the latest GFS chart run (21:30) and if anyone is interested the forecasting of snow starting has moved forward about 4 hours since the last run.

So from midnight for southern and south east england.

Might mean more in the morning than was expected.......

I'm working from bed in the morning. I've told people not to go into the office if it's difficult and to work from home.

Yeah it was - do you own a big shovel

Should be snowing on and off there very shortly - then snow overnight with some breaks and starting in earnest early tomorrow morning again. With a high risk (90%+) for the next 36 hours.

"30% chance of snow till 9pm if it carries on no work for me tomorrow "

thats not bad for the south.. its due to hit the north east overnight and just before the rush hour commute tomorrow morning...

I will have to keep an eye.. in theory i can claim the time back for bad weather, just like we did for the newcastle storms...

I went out to the car today and sat in it for a while doing a bit of 'prep' for Monday's onslaught. I was glad I was going nowhere. The complete covering of snow on all the windows gave me a sense of isolation from the outside world normally only enjoyed by a box of fishfingers.

I opened the door to get out, glad that I could and the locks hadn't frozen, and legged it indoors for a cuppa - a full twenty minutes before my hands got warm again.

And as they say... tomorrow is another day!

ps. pity you poor sods if you're out first thing
