"Is it as dull as it seems? Or is there some secret appeal that I just haven't discovered yet?" Dear old Jimminy, how I miss the little fella whispering in my ear……..

"Best game invented… regardless of the format (except The Hundred) " What is the point of The Hundred compared to something like T20 blast or IPL?

"I find the sound of cricket very soothing to listen to. The sound of the ball hitting the bat, the gentle ripple of applause. Sends me right off to sleep." Same. Nothing like watching a game with a few beers, getting into the drama of the minutiae of it, drifting off for a while, the gentle ripples of applause, the occasional crack of a good shot and cries of howsazt? All the while bathing in the sunshine. It’s also my favourite sport to play as it’s the only sport I am aware of that stops halfway through for a meal ie: tea

"I do love cricket though. When I was younger and wanted to learn as much as I could, I'd happily sit there and watch a full test match and absorb the analysis provided. Then as I got older, I had more appreciation for the limited overs game due to India winning the T20 and 50 over World Cup and have now come back round to enjoying test cricket more. It's the ultimate form of the game and to be able to just relax for a few hours to watch it while the rest of my life moves at 100mph, calmness can just wash over me. I also defy you to name a more beautiful sight in sport than a Sachin Tendulkar cover drive " Brian Lara's drives were better to watch

"I worked alongside an Australian guy who would tell me how his game of Cricket had gone , ball by fucking ball by fucking ball ... I never really hated the game till that moment ... I used to like being the wicket keeper at school , there was just more to do ... " I could never keep wicket. The burn on the thighs crouching down every ball would be murder
