Cricket is a wonderful game.

It’s allowed me to travel to Australia,New Zealand etc to stay with friends who came over hers to play , I’ve introduced it to Germans ,Italians ,Belgians and Americans who all lie love it ,although particularly the one day formats and the copious amounts of alcohol consumed.

I’m more a test fan myself

When you go out, you're in. When you're in, you do your best not to get out..... but when you are out, you come in....

I have never understood cricket - it is all about someone getting hit in the mid wicket googlies with someone else’s off stump. WTF is that all about?

Then you have a match that is drawn after playing for five days and one team has three thousand and forty eight and the other has seven but thirty two not out. Does that mean his googlies are still intact and so he doesn’t lose?

Cricket is quite simple.

You have two sides... Ours and theirs, one out in the field, one in. Each man in the side that's in, goes out, and when he's out, he comes back in and the next man goes in until he's out. Then, when they have all been in and are all out, the side that's been in the field goes in and the side that's in goes out and tries to get out those coming in. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. Then when both sides have been in and out, including not-outs, that's the end of the game.

It's really very simple!

Nothing like watching a game with a few beers, getting into the drama of the minutiae of it, drifting off for a while, the gentle ripples of applause, the occasional crack of a good shot and cries of howsazt? All the while bathing in the sunshine.

It’s also my favourite sport to play as it’s the only sport I am aware of that stops halfway through for a meal ie: tea

I think it's a sport you love or not, I don't think there are many in the middle (cricket pun there).

For me it's a fascinating game, compelling in all forms. Individuals playing as a team but challenging each other.

I do love cricket though. When I was younger and wanted to learn as much as I could, I'd happily sit there and watch a full test match and absorb the analysis provided. Then as I got older, I had more appreciation for the limited overs game due to India winning the T20 and 50 over World Cup and have now come back round to enjoying test cricket more.

It's the ultimate form of the game and to be able to just relax for a few hours to watch it while the rest of my life moves at 100mph, calmness can just wash over me.

I also defy you to name a more beautiful sight in sport than a Sachin Tendulkar cover drive

I used to like being the wicket keeper at school , there was just more to do ...

Any sport that builds in time for lunch and tea is just fine by me.
