Going out alone

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Does anyone else here do it? I love just walking, going for a drink, spending all night just feeling free. Any other loners here you’re more than welcome to lmk if you wanna go somewhere for a drink. Mental health is massively important, so please don’t hesitate to open up here. I walk alone, I’m usually lonely. Gotta take time for yourself though and enjoy being out on your own. This post meanders a bit but you might get what I’m saying. Hope you all have a lovely evening

Yes, I often go for a walk on my own. I stick headphones in so I can stay alone.

the abyss

If I didn't do anything on my own I'd never leave the house

But seriously, I know it's hard and I would often get nervous (sometimes still do) doing things on my own. But the confidence you gain from knowing you don't have to depend on others to live your life the way you want to is worth the nerves

I'm often doing things alone. And it's quite liberating just heading out for a good walk and actually enjoying the solitude rather than fearing it.

Then how the hell am I supposed to enjoy being alone if I’m out with you?

I actually don’t enjoy being alone, I’ve avoided going out all day today, and I needed shopping.

I’d much rather spend it with someone.

But, yeh, like you a can do it and find something interesting during my time on my own.

I do everything on my own: gigs, theatre, walks, rides, sports matches, etc. Can't remember what it was like to do stuff with someone else.

Haha, this is me. Been caught more than once playing the air guitar or drums. Always saying hi to people and petting their dogs if their ok with it. Very beneficial for my mental health

I often go to concerts and movies, a walk on the beach on my own. As it happens, I'm off on my own to a concert later this week in Glasgow.

I love my own company - perhaps a bit too much at times. I enjoy going for a drive, or for a coffee, or a night or two in a hotel by myself. It's good for the soul

When your a single person, you've no choice, but to go out & do thing's on your own.

I've to do it meself, go to the pub, away for a weekend, holidays, etc.

It's probably the good thing about being single, as you can come & go, as you please.

The down side of being a single person is, it can be very hard on a person's metal health, being on your own alot of the time. So anybody that's not feeling great, talk to somebody. "It's ok, to be ok".

Reading this I realise that O need to push myself to get out more alone.

This might sound weird, but since I lost my dog last year, I don't really get out much. It feels strange walking without her zx

I hear you with this one. Mr and I don't live together and both have kids from our previous relationships. My kids are getting a bit older and therefore stay up a bit later...which means I literally get no time to myself in the evenings any more and I really, really miss that. So whenever I get the opportunity for time on my own I grab it with both hands

Frequently. I live alone and enjoy my time company, so go out for exercise and pursuits all the time. Life's a challenge, the secret is to not lose out, just because there may not be someone to accompany you, some of the time.
