Read/Unread reasoning

So I'm wondering why we have this option to make it unread again?

Is it so you can have a system and the ones left unread after reading are kept as interest?

Is it because there's to many weirdos that can't handle rejection by a polite deletion and then go weird?

Or is that of other reasons I suppose the list could be long ????

I'm sure it's different for different people - best not to dwell.

I mark unread, if i want to see what they read and then realise nope, i did not want to read that after all!

Or if i don't have time to reply, i mark it unread, so i can take my time when it is more convenient

I often quickly glance and will mark it unread if I feel I want to reply to the message properly rather than a quick one liner.

Or sometimes I mark it unread if it's been a vile or offensive message. I mark it unread then delete.

I read then mark as unread so it looks like I have lots of messages.

Makes me feel like one of the popular women.

I often log in on lunch at work, don't have an immediate appropriate response in my limited time, so mark as unread to reply to later when I'm home.... simples.

Sometimes we mark it unread if the other hasn't read the message

If it's left marked or not after reading hopefully don't receive anymore. Would be easier to just delete but that would be too easy

I mark messages as unread if I want to reply to them. It reminds me to.

Or sometimes the message is so amazingly bad I'll save it to show to my husband

Realy if they delete the person will now they are not interested. That is of course if they have no intention of replying. Otherwise it does look a bit weird to be honest but either way people can do what they want I suppose and best to move on.

Either so I can come back to it, to answer properly.

Or to delete and then they should get a warning next time they try and send a msg.

But deleting doesn't stop them sending another either even after not getting a reply

Well in that case there is another useful tool called 'block'

Because you can delete all read, so if you want to keep something, mark it unread before a mass deletion.

I mark them unread before I delete.

I tend to find that if I read and delete they message asking what was wrong or put me off or they keep trying with different tactics as they know I'll read it.

If I mark as unread that happens a hell of a lot less.

The only ones I mark unread are to myself. I like to confuse myself and wonder if I’ll Reply one day.

As a couple its quite a useful feature because one of us may read it before the other. By marking it as unread we can then leave it for the other half to read before replying. I

Also if people mass delete messages coz there's too many too read

What is a person that does not repeat send in understanding that deletion is a polite No.

Should they carry on trying in case he was just mass deleted

Or just put that in the nope section ?

If they carry on is that just thirsty or interested

The only ones I mark unread after I've read them are the ones from the Mods, just to antagonise them.

This is a reason I was thinking to are there a lot of people that pipe up and start being crazy because you delete?

Thanks

I leave it unread if I want the Mr to look before I reply or I just CBA to reply right now and I'll go back to it later.

Imo messages should be responded but of course that's not possible if people get hundreds or indeed the message is inappropriate and does not warrant a response in first place. If not responded, delete and block. Why would you keep unread if you don't intend to ever respond. It does seem a bit odd to me but of course everyone manages these things the way they want. What though is very rude is when you have a perfectly normal conversation, not necessarily sexual but other stuff, and suddenly don't reply to your message, keep it unread but come and go on the side, post to forums etc. If you changed your mind about anything, just politely say so. After all you both invested your time in that initial conversation. You wouldn't stop talking to someone halfway your conversation in real life and walk away unless something significant made you do so. It's sad that people behave differently just because they can on the internet but there you go. As I said, just my opinion.
