Not Meeting at the moment

By (user no longer on site) OP

Came across a quite a few of these profiles in my search today.

People saying they are not meeting at the moment just on here at the moment to talk to old friends and forums.

I know people will say its upto people what they do with their profile, but rather than writing all this, just hide the profile.

Why? Maybe they want their friends to still see their profile? Maybe they want it open for forum games? Or maybe they just don't want to hide it and why should they?

Maybe they like having their profile open and interacting with people on their terms. The not meeting at the moment can be a deterrent for those who message nonsense.

We're not currently meeting. It's the first thing you'll read on our profile. But we are hoping to attend a social soon, and I don't think the organisers or other people going would be too impressed if it was a hidden profile.

Most of the people who aren't meeting are still members paying their memberships keeping the site going, chatting with friends etc, cant see anything wrong with this, why hide a profile that they're paying for?

I suppose for those who use Fab like an argos catalogue where everything they see should always be available to them at all times, and the out of stock items are what comes up at the top of the list that could be frustrating...

For others, it bothers us not how people choose to use their account and profile...

Ok, I'm one of these annoyances, OP.

1. Teasing is fun. You can't stop me.

2. I am still meeting up with people I've met before, so my profile with all its photos is visible for them, for forum users, for people I've spoken to before and like interacting with, etc.

3. I pay subs. I get to use the site, within the rules, the way I choose

You're coming across a little sour because you can't have your way with the women you want.

I'm not meeting anyone new or chatting to anyone new at the moment at some point when it suits me that will change. But I am still interacting with friends and posting on here.

I do have all my message filters on to block new chats. That's my choice .... could hide my profile but then my friends can't perve at my pics

I don't meet because i had major surgery last year and still recovering from it , what makes impossible for me to meet now and in and probably till next year.

There's always a reason, like, family, work , health , for people state in their profile they don't meet . Sometimes all it takes is just respecting what profiles state

The thing I see it as, when you search for a possible meet, and people say they aren't meeting at the moment, then you don't really want to look at there profile.

Perhaps the site could add a button for this purpose so I can search for people that want to meet. A bit like the "no men" and age functions.

Mind you, not everyone uses that either.

If you hide your profile, you don't appear on searches. Thats what the privacy settings says.

Maybe people aren't aware of this and would be easier for them rather than to write this on their profiles. But people like shooting the messenger, particularly if he's a guy.

Nope. Not from me and not from most others U suspect.

But I'd be surprised if a woman actually asked the question in the first place.

Lets face it. We and many others have details in our profiles advising when people should message about meets and when they shouldn't.

And yet still people message.

So you're assuming people read the words on a page anyway, which is often not the case.

Like anything you see on a profile, if it's not for you, you're not for them, or there's something in bright neon flashing letters advising you to not bother contacting them......move on.

There's no end of profiles on here that are looking to meet so concentrate on those.

So the cure for someone trying to tell you how to run your profile is to do something you don't want to do?

It sounds like when I first joined Fab and landed in hospital. "Baby, baby. What you need isn't surgery, it's to satisfy my throbbing cock! Don't listen to these doctors. Pay attention to my blue blue balls!" (Not an actual message. The spirit of many)

No I didn’t tell you to leave the site. I said if you don’t like how people can run their own profiles as they want to, maybe go to another site (ie where there are different rules)

"All you folk now not meeting and getting hot under the collar about my comments. Best cure is have a meet.

The spirit of many)"

Sounds a interesting hospital, was it NHS..

"People can do what they like can't they.. ?

To be honest.. I think it is actually really quite helpful if people have it as a status, or first line of their bio.. Because [ and it pays to read the bios guys!] you know where you stand.. And I guess if I was a single guy then I wouldn't copy and paste my opening message to them

Just for a laugh I might start putting it at the end of our profile.. Which is a bit like Tolstoy.. People start it with good intentions, but never finish it!

Actually. I was a single guy on here some time ago, and I never copied and pasted. Promise.

[Mr]

Men don't actually read profiles, the just perv the pics. So after the pics get them horny they want to meet."

And that is exactly why most of them never ever get a meet!

Manchester Royal Infirmary. Fortunately the "interesting" was only from men and couples who thought my need for surgery was less important than their libido.

Anyway, that attitude is the same as "you disagree with me about meeting, therefore you should fix that by meeting".

"Came across a quite a few of these profiles in my search today.

People saying they are not meeting at the moment just on here at the moment to talk to old friends and forums.

I know people will say its upto people what they do with their profile, but rather than writing all this, just hide the profile. "

It’s also a great way of putting off single guys, you can just point them at that rather than have to play the ‘but why’ game.

Basically some people want what they want. The solution is to do what they want. And if you don't want to do what they want, you're wrong, because you should do what they want.

I'm not sure if it's manipulative or naive

You shouldn't compare the comments of a stranger on a sex site ( Comments meant to be tongue in cheek by the way) with medical professionals meant to be treating you.

You misunderstand. I wasn't.

The doctors said "hold still, we'll get you into surgery as soon as possible"

While I was still working out how Fab worked (I had no idea about filters, hiding, anything), people on Fab told me that I should abandon that for the sake of their genitals.

I'm comparing the people who believed that I needed to abandon my medical needs for their boner (usually boner) to your attitude that your answers are the only correct ones.

I don't believe my answers are the correct ones. Just couldn't understand why those people didn't use the hide button.

Some people have explained the reasons where its better to be visible. Others have taken umberage to. But rereading my OP, my last line should have been phrased better.

In a way we're not meeting, well in terms of online. We don't really seek anyone out online or look to arrange anything in the online world. Pretty much all of our adventures and swinger freinds have come from our adventures at clubs and parties. We just don't really how the time, energy or patience to arrange meets with strangers online. We get a lot of people wink us who would potentially float our boat on paper if we where to come across them out and about. But we're just not in a place where we have the time to chase up such winks and messages into arranging something. In general anyway, I'm sure there's always and exception to to rule. And to be fair sometimes we do happen to bump into folk we've interacted with online somewhere down the line at club or event (even years down the line sometimes).

We mainly use this site to keep upto date with clubs/events/parties, to stay in touch with our freinds, forums and to perv.

As for hiding our profile you can get stuffed. We're proud of our profile and we have as much right as anyone else to show it. Its not our problem that some on here are butt hurt that's there's profiles on display of people not currently meeting. It's a lifestyle site not directory of who you can shag. Also as per above we're not completely closed to offers just it's difficult. So it would be a case of some exceptional people wooing us with their words but also lining up with a practical calendar slot and not a million miles away. Also we are always open to party offers and we get a few. As per above we like parties. I'm going to guess some people like to read/see the profiles of people they may invite. So visability is important to us.
