Appreciation of Open Fires…

London

I do love a roaring fireplace in the winter / autumn.

I used to live in a house that had a fire and really miss it, being curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea or a glass of wine being mesmerised by the flames and feeling safe, warm and cosy. Especially great at Christmas.

Looking back I regret I never had sex in front of an open fire though but I’d like to, I’d feel like James Bond or Ron Burgandy (except I’d be in a suburban Victorian terrace with a faux sheepskin rug from Wilko’s).

I think now the only chance I’ll get now would be in a country pub but I think it’s frowned upon, my local landlord even has signs up…

Do you like an open fire? Are you a fan? Do you look at the mantlepiece when you are stoking the fire?

This is the place to share your love of fires (please, no arsonists) and share any fire related sexual or non sexual anecdotes…

Cheeseville, Somerset

I grew up being a bit of a pyromaniac child. We'd visit my gran or a great aunt that had a fire going and I'd ask for things to throw on it to burn.

I'd love an open fire but not possible where we live.

I have had sex round a camp fire though and that was fun. May have to try that again at some point.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I love an open fire

So relaxing to simply sit whilst basking in the warmth and idly watch the flames and later, the smouldering embers.

I’ve sadly never engaged in sexual shenanigans in front of one either though but have done it in a kitchen whilst an electric oven was switched on which wasn’t a particularly memorable experience…

I had an open fire, and could still have one if I wanted.

I can't light the bloody thing so it's staying boarded up.

Love an open fire! Could watch them for hours and listen to it crackling

I had one in a previous house and we did have a couple of very nice evenings sprawled in front of it

Open fire season is over now its all about sunsets But yes I love an open fire. Ive been a bit cautious this year as I havent had my chimney swept for a while. They take a bit of work and poking and fiddling to keep going but worth it. ( no that wasnt describing my sex life)

I love a roaring fire especially if its in s cottage .even though as child of five we had coal fire a spark came out and set my dressing gown on fire and scared me for life and made me have to become right handed

Its so good to see the flames dance

You can even get videos of burning coal fire to play on TV . so let's not blame fire form my miss fortune .

I really miss my log burner. I have not only was it pretty and cozy, you could toast marshmallows indoors (they made a great half time sex snack too)

Glasgow / London

I grew up with an open fire. Apparently when I was young me and the two dogs used to curl up in front of it every night through the winter.

I have log burners now and they’re a hell of a lot easier to maintain … but I do still like to sit around a real fire out in the garden on a summer night.

little house on the praire

When I worked in the hotel we had a huge fire in the lounge bar and it was my job to clean it out and redo it. I didn't like the job but I made a cracking job of it

Delightful Bliss

Open fires and log burners indoors are guaranteed to have me snoring in the armchair pretty quickly.

I prefer firepits outside, with snuggly jumpers, cider and smores

We have a fire pit in the back yard. We spend most nights around it just talking and listening to music. Weather permitting. Fall nights are the best.

I grew up with open fires as our only source of heat so it was no surprise that when I bought a house I opened up the fireplace

My current place has a open fire with a big back boiler which heats the hot water and nine radiators

I love watching those flames dance as you sit watching it burn

Near Abercynon

We've got a portable log burner/stove that is meant for bell tents. We used it in a caravan awning, that was super cosy in winter and great to cook on.

I love an open fire and sex infront of an open fire is amazing and can be very exciting.

I appreciate that not everyone approves though. Can you be excluded from a village green permanently or do you think I will be allowed back in next year’s firework display?
