Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have up to date anti virus software installed ?

You could also try downloading and installing malwarebytes (free) this will detect and remove any malware including worms, trojans, rootkits, rogues, dialers and spyware.

If this doesn't pick anything up and your AV scan is clear, it could be a lack of video card memory.

Yep we run all these regularly and have anti virus, but there is nothing. We have even gone through and deleted anything we don't use that can take up memory space.

Done all nvidia driver updates etc

Just thought - when it stutters, are you playing a file stored on your pc or are you streaming it off the net?

For playing games, your graphics card is very low spec.

For streaming video, I would have thought it was ok - you may want to try updating your Graphics Card drivers.

One of the main reasons streaming stutters is your internet connection rate - what sort of speed are you getting on your connection?

Easy test is to try and play back a video file stored on your hard disk. If it is stutter free it pins it down to the speed of the Internet connection.

In france the internet is shit no fibre optic or anything like that here.

We are with orange think its 3 gig or something, but its faster than we had in our old house, that was always ok streaming stuff. With some things you just had to let the stream download for a time before watching as it used to catch up

That's the problem then it's a shit download speed, which is more than likely being made worse by the time of day, and how many users are also downloading stuff

So you're using a mobile signal 3g internet. That's gonna be your issue.

It may not have been a prob before but now you got higher resolution videos , HD etc take up more bandwidth to stream.

Check for flash player updates too.

I agree with the above though. Shit internet speed is probably your issue coupled with an obsolete graphics card.

No its a 3mb broadband connection..

But if its the connection why does it still do itn something that has downloaded ? And why did it not do it when we had a 2mb connection ?

Well, its 3Mb, but its ADSL, so that may not be the speed you're actually getting.

Google 'Speedtest' and there is a site which will tell you the actual speeds your getting on your connection - chances are it may be lower than '3Mb'

I would go to a small independent computer shop.

Upgrading your graphics card depends on the PSU (power supply). 256MB graphics is very low, for gaming 1gb is pretty well standard - though it will also improve tv/dvd performance too especially as an upgrade will have a HDMI connector.

You need to find out what motherboard you have and the speed of the PCI/PCI-E x16 slot.

If you do you can buy one off shelf and simply plug it in though a small independent will be cheaper than PC world.

Expect somewhere around £100+ to buy and them fit a decent one

Thats pretty damn respectable. The only thing I can think of is that you get a lot of dropouts / reconnects which may affect the connection when constantly streaming information.

What services are you streaming from? BBC Iplayer and that sort of thing or are you watching downloaded movie files etc on your PC?

just googled your pc .. if its the sames you can upgrade the memory if youre running a 64bit version of windows not 32bit:

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2, DDR3 (non-ECC)

Maximum Memory: 4GB

the video looks to be a PCI-E x16 slot

Just done a little googling around and a card recommended would be the 9500GT series though this is guesswork really. With extra ram and an uprated card youre looking at circa £180 id say

Watch uk TV through the filmon site or app and steam or download movies sometimes.

google the make/model: Packard Bell Imedia S3720

and find the specs for the PCI slot.

all you do then is find a good card to match the pci slot and plug it in.

Upgrading the ram to a potential max of 4gb will also help

Though remember the PSU has to have the power to support the new graphics card. Most standard PSU's are around 300 watts.. some cards need a minimum of 400 to power them or you faced with them crashing and defeating the object.

im no expert but we stream from our 4 year old laptop with no problems, and it wasnt a high spec when new, we do have a very good broard band tho, this would be my first thought. also your antivirus might be the problem, most are real system hogs, we use microsoft security, it is way better than any other we have tried, and best of all its free.

lets face it who better to protect windows than the maker of windows?

I think their model of PC has a PCI-E slot on the Mobo, but Ive been unable to find out the wattage of the PSU, which I suspect to be about 250W to 300W.

Rather than hazarding a guess, probably best to take it to a trusted local PC shop.

However, IMHO, adding an extra 1Gb of memory (to bringing to to 4Gb in total) will not make any difference to the overall speed unless you're playing the latest games or video / photo editing on very large files.

was just going to suggest that - buy the graphics card from as shop as they will update the drivers too and consider what the system can take. I think its a 250 watt power supply.

When it been installed google the ram type (listed above - though it will also say it on the side of the ram) and buy that seperately. Gooogle the ram type and then type in "sale" after it - as this is an easy install you can do yourself and get a discount with promotial sales.

Pointless upgrading the ram if you're upgrading the graphics card, the ram won't be recognised.

I'd check for updates for the flash player, disable browser add ons and also check if there are any comparability issues with flash player and your browser, a recent Firefox update caused instability on a lot of flash based sites, even they advised people to use Chrome until it was resolved.

To the OP.

1) When streaming video, are you using a wired LAN connection between the PC and the Internet Router or are you using Wireless?

2) Are you playing back the streaming video on the PC monitor or have you got your PC hooked up to a big Flat Screen TV?

3) When you play back, are you playing back High Definition (HD) quality TV/Films?

Sadly the NVidia 7100 Integrated graphics chipset offers no hardware acceleration for video playback.

Its a wired lan connection to the router.

We are streaming the video through the PC monitor, tryed connecting it to the TV with HDMI we get a blue screen on PC monitor and PC won't start up.

Try and eliminate things until you either identify the issue or are left with only one thing.

Sounds like you've tried eliminating the network (internet and your local network) by both downloading the file as opposed to streaming it, and by using a wired connection to your router.

The next thing I would try before buying new hardware would be to rule out your existing software. I'm a sad geek so I'm not fazed by using operating systems other than Windows... if you're up for a challenge download a version of Linux - Ubuntu or Linux Mint would be my recommendations - and try downloading some video files... you can run both versions from a CD without having to install anything, otherwise Ubuntu has something called Wubi which installs Linux from within Windows!

If you do still get problems even when using Linux then I'd look at investing in some new hardware... at least you'll have tried all your other options first though. Imagine how gutted you'll be if you spend cash on new kit and still have a problem

Trend Micro free test or Avast paid, do a memory test to see if all ram is working, use cc cleaner and defrag. If it's staggering with new games maybe you need a new graphics card. Check the stats the new card needs and power supply required.

Should also add, for issues such as this, Google Tom's hardware, go into the forums, they''ll be sure to nail the problem if the above doesnt help

Good luck
