Go and have that awkward coversation

Right I'm going for 3 from 3 of threads that quietly bombed today , so here goes....

My weekend has been full of engaging in the awkward conversations that I've been putting off for a while now and was then topped off with my eldest unexpectedly asking about the birds and the bees .

All of the ones that I got the chance to have turned out markedly better than expected and I'm feeling so much better for it. So i urge you, if there's any of those types of coversations you've been putting off, dive in as it's highly likely they will go a lot better than expected and you then won't have the thought of them weighing you down any longer. You got this!!

Well said OP!

Think I need to have a conversation with myself but I'm not ready yet

So as a deflection - how did the tattoo go today

I actually bottled a conversation with my dad today. It needs to be had and it’s been stressing me out for weeks. I’ll do it tomorrow.

You’re an angelic faced man of wisdom

The one with myself was the 1st and worst of the weekend, I'm a stubborn bugger.

It went brilliantly thank you, the new guy is a genius for saving me, haven't stopped looking at it. I'll send you a pic if you like. I now just need to figure out how I'm going to sleep with my whole usual sleeping side being rather sore.

Yes do it tomorrow!!! I'm going to nag you as well until you do now.

I had to have 1 with my dad as well and it was the 1 that surprised me the most. For the 1st time ever he actually said "I'm proud of you big head" might not seem a lot, but I've wanted to hear that for a very long time

Have to say I don't find any conversations awkward. I just come out with things. With my son I always told him right from when he first started to talk he could ask me anything. Do wish he had a filter sometimes though lol

Many of us put these things off as no-one like an argument with a loved one, but this weekend proved to me that pulling that plaster off is better down sooner rather than later. I wish you luck

I spend my life having awkward conversations haha! Doesn’t bother me anymore, I just have to tone down things as I’m more a straight to the point type of lass

You shouldn't be so hard on yourselves. Being a parent isn't easy, no matter how good or bad kids can be. You'll either face the issue or you won't, but it doesn't always mean you're bad parents

What did you get done OP?

As for the original post (sorry, I got sidetracked ) I’ve had a few difficult conversations this week and none have gone particularly well, some needed to be had but one didn’t, I felt cornered to have it.

I have to ring rheumatology and tell my doctor I think my new tablets are giving me a stomach ache.

I hate ringing doctors and hospitals.

Yeah, we know that too. That's what's making me even crosser. We've had similar conversations in the past, but it's slipped to the point where I'm losing my patience completely. I don't exist to be spoken to like I'm a turd

We wish you luck too

If they're anything NSAID, they should have given you some PPIs or similar to protect your stomach

I think in the last 6 months I’ve had more awkward conversations than I ever thought possible. But I’ve had them because they all needed to be said and dealt with.

The only awkward one I’ve got pending now is talking to the dog about me moving away

That one is going to be hard bless him

He will understand. Dogs are so understanding.

That will only make it worse for you, of course, lovely.

I've been taking PPIs for years.

I absolutely agree with the sentiment but when daily life feels like a holding pattern of self-sustainability I feel like I don't want to deep into a deep conversation without being ready.

Maybe ripping the proverbial plaster off could be just the ticket, but equally big conversations need big preparation for me.
