Honestly I'm often surprised by how short a distance people are prepared to walk. I don't think it's worth getting the car out for any less than a forty minute walk

.

I hate those people.

I'm sorry.

The last time it happened was on a date recently and I was made to walk twenty minutes. Twenty minutes in the drizzle. My fiancé is a 'let's walk' person. I'm an Uber girl. I've worked out how much I'm worth per minute and if it costs a lot less than that? It's an Uber.

I'm trying to be more like them though.

Drizzle! Nobody mentioned drizzle.

If I don't have a hood on my coat I'm not walking anywhere in drizzle unless it's home to wash my hair

I've passed my love of walking down to my daughters.

My son prefers to drive or catch a taxi.

I can't walk miles any more but I still enjoy it.

I think it's something you become accustomed to as you grow up.

I know. Drizzle is awful, you've got the right idea. He was really sweet but I eyerolled when he said that I suit my hair curly and should keep it like that. A hour spent on blowdrying. Twenty minutes of a date and it's ruined.

Not even in the good way.

I worked as a fitness instructor for twenty odd years whilst married, and then with kids.

We visited many cities and I remember going to Rome when my ex wife was in her early forties and she carried a fold up stool, as she needed to rest periodically.

The kids and her would constantly be moaning!

When we broke up, I met "Fallen Angel", who was also a marathon runner.

She had one of those fitness tracker watches.

We went to Venice, Verona, Florence and Rome and we were walking 15-18 miles a day!

This was looking back with hindsight why my last relationship probably never have worked longterm ... I walk, love exploring and even my kids (now adults), we'll all walk 20 miles a day happily, unfortunately he didn't like walking period

Venice is the best place to get wonderfully lost, closely followed by Old Town Delhi!

I've just checked your profile, and would you believe that I'm a Carnegie?

Unfortunately, I'm not related to that rich bloke!

I resent paying over the odds for taxis but it does depend on how badly my shoes are hurting after a night out. You can get these little fold up shoes now though that fit in your clutch bag, so provided I have those I can speed walk a mile ok

I do tend to attract the after hours odd bods though so a taxi is the more sensible option when I’m alone…!

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

Living where I do out in the sticks means I have to drive - the nearest corner shop is 5 miles away, the nearest supermarket 12 miles away. But, when I get home and it's a nice day, like today, I'll put my shorts on and go for a stride around the farm tracks. Just did a short walk this afternoon of 2.5 miles.
