I remember when I was a kid, my Mum was always moaning about this. She bought a water gun!

I googled and one of the suggestions was this:

‘Ask the owner to ensure there's a suitable toilet area in their own garden.‘

Must’ve been written by someone who’s never had a cat!

Have you tried the spray you can get from garden centres? Cats foul where they can smell other cats have been, the spray masks that. The one I used was a strong orange smell that was obviously pleasant enough for me but stopped cats being able to smell each other in my garden.

You spray it every few days and can even supplement it with granules shaken in problem areas.

It doesn’t harm the cats (or any animals) as it’s not toxic. Worked a treat for me.

Either that or you could dress up as scooby doo and patrol at night.

I had an ex-racing greyhound and let him out to piss in my garden. I didn't see the cat, but he did. He caught it and threw it up into air into the neighbouring garden. A while later saw the same cat in the garden , with shaved fur and scars.

It obviously didn't learn from the experience.

Follow the cat to its owners and deposit one of your own turds on their lawn.

Until owners are made responsible for there animals.

By a cat shelter/run or dog shelter/run and not use the boundary walls.

Its a shelter cage for there animals to be free enough but not cause an issue with neighbours.

You will always have the trouble.

The best way is a sprinkler connected to the water mains pressure via an electronic valve thats connected to a heat sensor device.

But remember to turn it off when your in the garden.

Animals are animals full stop ... cats aren't that trainable and mine insisted on shitting in my own garden which meant I could clean it up. It's a continuation of dog owners that don't or even worse leave the poo in plastic bags!

Jeyes fluid is poisonous, use that and the cat dies, you will be done for causing unnecessary suffering not to mention vet fees, and all sorts.

Owners can’t do anything about cats roaming as cats have the right to roam, unlike dogs. It’s true that some cats can be trained to walk on a leash, some even like it, but you can’t train them all, unlike dogs, they can be trained and at any age too.

Oh I do love a stereotype.

As a dog owner for over 30 years I've never done either of those things.

It's a tiny minority that do.

My dog has never shit in a neighbour's garden or killed another animal.

Cats should be on a lead same as dogs. But oh no it's a cat, it's not natural. It wasn't natural for dogs at one point but it is now.

Time to progress as a society and embrace the change.

Let's face it cat's faeces is seriously bad for women that are trying to conceive or especially who are pregnant, leading to miscarriages

It's really not nice to have to clean up other people's pet faeces ...

But we can't stop cats being cats and we can't be abusive to anything, let alone animals

So let's read/Google the how to deal with this as educated, sympathetic human beings ... and there are ways including being better pet owners

Definitely! It’s horrible.

Agreed people who think it's acceptable to hurt if not kill animals really want their heads testing.

As long as it's not keeping eye contact with the neighbours.

"You can cat proof your garden, put some rollers on top of your fences.

Are you absolutely sure it’s cat faeces? Cats tend to bury their poop, however dog and foxes will deposit on grass.

Some cats can be very lazy clearing up after themselves. Dogs will shit anywhere just like on the pavement.

.....and their owners then walk on by, or at a push, wait until they get out of sight, and then sling the poop bag into the bushes!

Obviously this 'tiny minority' must all live in Cheshire then, because the canal towpath near us, the public footpaths/trails that cross the fields, the hedgerows and woods are the favourite places for this tiny minority to rid themselves of the little green or black bags full of stinking dog shit! And the requirement to have dogs on leads is law to probably lessen the chances of them attacking other dogs and animals, and people?

If you or other dog owners don't like the rules of law in owning a dog, don't have one, plus how would you keep a cat on a lead, it would be interesting to hear your ideas on this? Just ridiculous! It isn't nice when cats leave a mess in your own or somebody else's garden, we're fully aware of that as we've owned cats for thirty years, but cats are a complete opposite to dogs and cannot be trained/disciplined in the same way as dogs can? As for being a stereotype, the homeowners that have to clear up the mess from the pavements outside their house would beg to differ on that tag?

Why not just stick a post in the ground with a sign toilet I'm sure it'd be quicker getting all the residents to chip in

trouble most likely, or creating it :)

My cats must be a neighbours dream. They sit and wait for me to let them in and then use the litter tray .. then ask to go back out again.

Although both the bengals will use the toilet.

Its not acceptable to hurt animals and If I ever caught anyone harming one of my babies will be in trouble. Thing is I get animal shit in my garden but its not cats

More jumping to conclusions, I agree with the rules on owning a dog, just think it should apply to cats too.

I knew someone who walked a cat on a lead so it's perfectly feasible.

"thanks for the advise

i do keep the grass short

lion roar pellets = doent have good reviews on amazon

what does jayes fluid do ???

i hope not a poison

Jeyes fluid is poisonous, use that and the cat dies, you will be done for causing unnecessary suffering not to mention vet fees, and all sorts.

Owners can’t do anything about cats roaming as cats have the right to roam, unlike dogs. It’s true that some cats can be trained to walk on a leash, some even like it, but you can’t train them all, unlike dogs, they can be trained and at any age too.

Train the owners then

To do what? Follow their cat around with a plastic bag?"

Many people see cats as legitimate targets for their sadistic gratification. I've saved a few stray or feral cats over the years - they are often so traumatised it can take 3 months or more to gain their trust. K

Quite so. I'm sure people on here are only joking about harming a cat, but legally they're classed as wild animals so have as much right to poop in your garden as birds, hedgehogs, foxes etc. The maximum penalty for cruelty offences (causing unnecessary suffering) was raised from six months to five years and/or an unlimited fine in 2021.

Start a poo patrol club in your neighbourhood.

Those with cats have to visit the gardens with the poo and scoop it away.

Combine this with the making friends thread and you've made friends for life! There'll always be a need for scooping poops

Or join one of those community groups in your own area shit flyers just keep sending it back and forth... But if you find out whose cat it is box all the poo in a parcel box wrap up the box nicely in lovely wrapping paper don't forget to set the trap inside so it pops once the lid is open... You'll get some tips from those in USA who set these traps via YouTube
