Are you feeling older?

I know that we are all chronologically getting older but do you feel that mentally too?

I don't feel any older mentally than I did in my 20s, when I look in the mirror I see ageing but I don't feel it yet.

Have a great day all.

I imagine myself as mid thirties.

I’m surprised at my limitations sometimes and have to be reminded that I am an old man

I don't feel old as such, but in many ways I feel more confident in myself and my abilities. I look back on myself as a 20 year old and see how naive and shy I could be.

I do occasionally, like when I see people younger than I doing things I would have done at their age and cringing, but in the day to day I don't.

Yes. I do like this stage of life. I'm aware that I cannot run as fast , jump as high , or drink as often but there are compensations for being mature and I wouldn't swap what I have for a return to youth...

For me I don't feel old as I'm still in good working order mentally and physically. But if I was in a room of 20 somethings I'd be much more aware of my age.

My knee does today.

I've moved from the hedonistic to the epicurean.

Still feel the will to push the boundaries but I mostly drink tea and go for walks in the woods.

Actually I have always done that I just used to get stoned too.

Oh I don't know... What was the question?

I've always felt older than many people my age, but that could be down to the fact that I prefer being in bed by 9pm and cwtched up with a book.

I do feel really old however when I ID someone at the bar and the number starts with 20

The big irony is that now I can drink as much as I want, go places at the drop of a hat, eat what I want, stay up all night.

Trouble is, I don’t want to.

I collected my first pair of reading glasses today - up until now I’ve only needed glasses for distance (a pretty strong prescription too!) - so today I feel old

It also takes me longer to recover from a big night out - but then it doesn’t help that I still try to dance like I did when I was 18

I don’t feel older so much, but … I’ve gained experience and confidence with the accumulation of years. I make less mistakes than I used to. I fill my space in the world a bit better - I feel like I’ve earned it.

I don’t mind this ageing thing.

I had to grow up before I reached 10 due to crap family troubles.

When I turned 20 I began to see my childhood was lacking in fun so I started to reclaim it a lot.

I thought that by the time I reached 40 I would have calmed down again.

Wrong!

If I hadn't had my life changing accident at 43 I would still be feeling 20 again.

My mind still thinks I'm about 21

My body has a tendency to remind my mind that this is not the case on numerous occasions, like if I kneel down.

One thing I've found as I've got older is that hard surfaces feel an awful lot more solid than they did when I was younger.

I'm learning several languages as well as a relatively new musical instrument (piano coming soon too) and over the last week I've cycled 20-plus miles on windy country roads on four occasions. So no, not feeling older than my years, in fact a decade or two younger. It's only the odd glitch that makes me feel older... oh, and ageism in various places... Maybe I ought to knock a couple of decades off my Fabs age as I'm forever being told I don't look my age.

I don't feel much older mentally, and still able to do everything I want to do physically, but I am definitely conscious of my aging.

Obvious signs like the salt-n-peppering hair and less youthful skin, but sometimes I'm just struck by my actual age, and how long ago my youth was!
