Definitely found it hard the last couple of years to get the motivation to really get into shape. I look back at pics from a few years ago and have to double take Can't believe I use to look that way... anyone feel the same?

When you get past 50 the only thing you can hope for is to slow the decline a little bit. It’s not easy to come to terms with.

I haven't changed much. I put on a bit of weight once I finally finished breastfeeding back in 2021, but I'm similar to how I was pre-babies.

My husband on the other hand definitely put on weight during lockdown and has been working hard to try and get his slimmer physique back. He's nearly there

I’ve definitely put on some weight since having our youngest and I’m not happy with the way my body looks at the minute. I started the gym yesterday so it’s a step in the right direction to getting back to how I looked before and feeling more confident.

I prefer how I am now compared to 5 or so years ago. Always been hard to gain weight for me, so as my metabolism slows I'm actually gaining more confidence.

Don't worry about that past so much mate, I think you may be putting to much pressure on yourself lad.

I put 9 stone on in less than a year and my weight has gone down and up since.

Currently, it's up.

I haven't been slim since my mud 30s so it's a distant memory, but I miss feeling light.

The opposite for me. I was a wee, rat like, lad in the army, had a glow up in my 30’s and now pretty happy with my body.

Priorities change though and I’m sure there’s other aspects in your life that have gotten better. Think of the positives guys.

If anyone is around northampton and fancy a gym sesh though ping a message. Happy to drag your butt for donuts & deadlifts.

Nothing like mud wrestling when you were in your thirties, possibly a bit too dirty for me now (and I may never get up - 'oh, me lumbago')

Age has always to be taken into account whatever a person does, as regards working out an injury could put that to bed ,as a person finds it more difficult to do things they have to look at alternative ways ..ie..if a person who used to work out etc and can't do the same as before then maybe diet has to play a part to play ..the main thing is do whatever feels or is comfortable.. anything else is just putting your body under severe pressure...which is totally wrong ..your body has given you everything since you were born ..it needs to be looked after .

Somewhere

Yes and no.

When I was 20 I was 90kg and maintained 10% bodyfat year round with little effort.

As much as I'd like to be there again I know it's not realistic for many reasons. Age, minor niggles from 30 years of lifting but mainly time. I value my time far more than being in that sort of shape.

I do miss being as strong as I was between the ages of 38 and 43 when competing between 110kg and 120kg bodyweight. I am weak now by my standards and it makes me sad sometimes as I got great satisfaction from lifting heavy.

I am really quite content staying in pretty good shape, 15% bidybfat or below most of the year with decent muscle mass and strength. It's taken me along time to come to that place.

There's a meme that goes around FB that says "I wish I was the weight I was in my teens when I thought I was fat." I'd happily have my younger body back!

I don't complain about my body now, it's in good health over all. If I can't be arsed to exercise and eat really well then I'm not going to moan about being squishy!

Don’t be discouraged You can get it back much faster than it took to build it first time round mate muscle memory helps a lot you be there in no time

I know the feeling, I couldn’t remember last time weighed under 100kg but having a heart attack last year went from 105kg to 88kg in two weeks I was absolutely destroyed mentally it’s took from July till now to get back to same weight even now still a bit softer in the waist so still a bit to go
