Reports that shark nets on some Ossie beaches may be taken down to please some aqua scientists. They were put up to protect human swimmers. Watching this one with interest. It's all over shark news

Evil buggers, those Aussies. Ban the nets and feed the lot to the sharks I say…

Slightly misleading OP.

It was reported on Saturday that leading Shark biologists and conservationists are campaigning to have them all removed.

Reasons being is that many non-targeted animals are getting caught up in them and also some sharks have been able to finds ways around them anyway - so, essentially, what they're saying is that they're not particularly effective and are causing more harm than good.

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

Didn't someone calculate you were more likely to be bitten by the footballer Luis Suarez than a shark?

Get them nets down and wrapped around Suarez. That'll be a better use of money.
