I like to make my own decisions.

However, I'm not going to pretend I'm not aware of what other people have said before that point or that it could colour my perceptions along the way.

Validation?

Erm. I'd rather take people as they are. My experiences of them could be wildly different from another's - I think people respond to others differently, there's our confirmation bias so certain traits are highlighted more and others overlooked.

So I might find someone an absolute joy, another might find that same person saccharine and dull.

I'll listen to a few very close friends. I'll still form my own opinions.

Some.

Depends on the person of course. There are those whose opinions I value and those I couldn't give a flying fuck about.

Everyone has an opinion about someone and it can be based on everything from a pure, honest viewpoint to one that's determined by a specific agenda. Sometimes people opinions of others seem to change with rhe wind depending on who's asking for said opinion. There's a lot of two faced bitchy people out there in the world.

It’s like hearing a film is shit. And then you catch it on dvd and it’s actually pretty good in your opinion. You then wonder why you listen to reviews and you could have enjoyed it in the 90s.

Also a select few people who take the time to fully get to know me and whose judgment I consider sound.

As soon as someone says something looks good on me I know it looks terrible and it'll probably never be worn wear it again - or used for mucking around.

Always best to make your own decisions. Message and speak to them see how they are. You can always tell a fake from a mile away

No because I think we are different depending on who we are with and the energy they give you, so would rather form my own views.

Here’s an example of trusting someone else’s opinion, just to counter the general vibe of the thread.

A good friend of mine from here asked me to meet her and a friend with benefits for a threesome. Now, I don’t know the guy from Adam. Never met him, never heard of him. But I trust my friend completely. And I was comfortable trusting her judgement - and her taste in partners. So I said yes.

I guess that’s a bit deeper than just trusting what you read in a verification …

North East Scotland, mostly

Interesting one. I think we all take on others' opinions to a greater or lesser extent. It's whether you trust your own judgement, and of the person offering the opinion, which will make the biggest difference surely?

Always make your own mind up. I often use the trip advisor analogy. Even the ‘best’ hotels in the world will get mostly glowing reviews but a few one star reviews because someone didn’t like the way the toilet flushed or the shower head was at the wrong angle.

So take other people’s opinions with a pinch of proverbial salt and ‘suck it and see’ for yourself (pun fully intended).

You are right Mrs TMN x I had the wool pulled over my eyes recently and I guess I am questioning my own judgement of people and the positive opinions others had of them. Its hard to get off the distrust roundabout

When did you ever see a veri that reads;

'I met X, who was late and I almost didn't recognise her/him as the photo on fab must have been taken 20 years ago. No conversation, dull as ditchwater and actually smelled a bit funny. Wouldn't touch with yours'

This was my first veri.....
