"Do people actually ring in sick and blatantly lie to their employers? I can honestly say I've never had a day off sick when I haven't been ill. I have to be very poorly to ring in sick, it's all about respect, honesty and morals for me." So it you how comes in and jibes us all your bugs stay at home and take a day for the team.

"I never call in sick unles I am genuinely sick and really poorly to not go to work. I don’t drink, (not to a level that I’d get d*unk anyway) so can’t even call in sick for a hangover. That was one of the first cultural shocks when I got here in the UK - how people call in sick just for anything. Not judging but " I wouldn't say it's a cultural thing in the UK. I definitely don't come across a lot of people that call in sick on the regular. Maybe the population is higher in the UK then your homeland so therefore the ratio of sick callers would increase? As a teen working part time in retail, I'd call in sick if I was being lazy, don't think I had a particularly memorable excuse for sickness. I once told a college tutor I was late because my porridge was too hot, which then snowballed into a series of events that led to my lateness. As an adult I'd only call in sick if I was at deaths door... (No not man flu )

"Well I’m going to be the party pooper. People calling in sick, when they are not genuinely sick, really fucks me off. It’s not the moral issue of being deceitful, that’s between the individual and their own conscience. It’s the issue of other people having to carry extra or having their work curtailed because someone else’s presence is required for the job to be done and they are at home swinging the lead. If you want time off, arrange it, don’t shit on others. "
