Starting my MBA tomorrow - have been procrastinating over it for a number of years now...

not sure I'm going to find the whole studying thing easy to get back into! Any ideas?!

Brighton - even Hove!

Set aside a proper dedicated area, set aside a sensible amount of time and use a timetable to maximise your effectiveness. Read around the subject as well and network. Good luck.

not quite your level but at 50 i changed career and doing level 3 nvq - for me its huge and i am going achieve this - my advise is do the work as soon as its set - i let family and other stuff come first and occasionally i shouldnt - good luck

It won't be easy, as I found it difficult to hold down a demanding full time job while I was expected to find time to study.

Good luck, as it is worth it at the end I am sure.

All good advice. Also break study periods down into manageable time slots with frequent breaks. Good luck

And be selfish - take the time you need to dedicate to the work even if it means someone loses time with you - I realised this was something I had to do when I went back to uni at 35. I felt guilty not giving the time to my daughter but I had to do it so I could give her a better life!! Good luck with it

I find that the best thing is as already suggested to make sure you have space and time set aside.

I am going back to Uni next year and looking forward to it..

Good luck

Be prepared for a huge leap in educational dialogue. Its really a personal thing as to how fast you are able to take on new ideas/paradigms/theories/rationales.

Everyone has their own techniques for taking on information, but you will have to put in the hours of reading. Aim for a good 37.5 hrs per week as otherwise, you simply won't be read enough for any debates/forums.

Try to keep a list of referenced quotes for when it comes to essays. If you are just retuning to education and hanging any difficulty in planning out or writing work then there are people available at the university to give you help... I found these very useful after taking a break from eduction and returning.

Good luck

Definately stay off FAB - and I should take my own advice - final year undergrad here and not long until dissertation due in...

"Stay off FAB "

Lol! In that case, I think I may fail before I start!

Thanks everyone for the advice, much appreciated. Looking forward to getting stuck into it tomorrow, somewhat apprehensively though! Study room already set up!

As well as this make sure you take adequate breaks from studying, you can get overwhelmed by doing too much at once.Good luck.

Organisation is the key!

Having been a mature student, just planning and keeping to what you should be doing and when you should be doing it is the key.
