Then i looked at the jar and its not fish paste its courdon bleu sandwich filler what a div, must be time for my bed

What makes a paste a paste then?

Is there a posh name for it?

Sorry, not really that funny I know, however, I can't resist!

Does smoked fish meshed up with mayo and dash of lemon juice qualifies as a pate?

I dont flaming know i said it was sandwich filler anyway, the other one is smoked salmon flavour and that says the same on it. If it was pate it wouldnt come in a jar marked sandwich filler it would say pate sandwich filler

.

It can be a very respectable starter, try making a basket out of a lemon, and pipe the mixture into it

Far too fussy for me though - I just plonk a dollop on a plate!

I often have smoked mackeral/tuna mashed up in mayo and lemon and black pepper in a sandwich but would hardly serve it as a starter

I am not very good with presentations!

I ate my soup off the pot this evening as I did not see the point of using a separate bowl!

The lemon basket with smoke mackeral "pate" as a starter came from a cook book or I read it somewhere yonks ago! Certainly not original
