There's a game being played in Australia:

When 2 or more people are out to dinner (or such) everyone puts their phones/blackberries (whatever mobile device) in the middle of the table face down as is only allowed to it once the last meal has been had: first person to touch before the last meal is finished picks up the tab

Jesus, now I think that is sad that people can't be trusted not to use their phones when they are meant to be out enjoying themselves....we only take one phone out when we got out incase of an emergancy and that one is switched off

One of the girls at work marked her birthday, so the department took her to lunch to mark the occasion (about 12 of us, different departments). No sooner had we sat down and ordered drinks before someone noticed 7 people were on their iphones, tablets, bbm,... cause "certain important work emails could not wait".

It is rude - its one thing if (as seen happen at pubs) someone nips out for a quick cigarette and (either party) has a quick message (text or voicemail) check (if expecting a message?) but definitely not at the table.

I don't see what the fuss is all about. Mobile phones are a part of our lives now and that's not likely to change. I have a better game, if you don't like mobile phones put yours under your front wheel and drive over it, see how long you last without it.

How was it implied otherwise? If anything makes no sense its your post above lol

All that was implied was that either the date was really boring or something happened that the OP wanted to share with us but she didn't, she waited until after said date had finished to come in here and admit that she had wanted to post something.

Sometimes I think people check their fun at the login page when they come on here

Abso-fucking-defo-lutely!!

It seems a lot of people have absolutely no idea how to read between the lines and see what someone is hinting at and one has to spell it out in a long and winding post EXACTLY what one is trying to say. And god help you if you have the audacity to make a typo!! Apparently, making a typo means you have zero intelligence and anything else you have said is null and void.

There's been times when I've been on a date and when in the toilet, I've reached for my phone and texted my mate either; 'it's going great' or 'I'll be home early!'- I just thought this was a similar kind of thing! I wasn't being rude to my date nor did the OP say anywhere that she was on her phone in front of her date! Mobile phones are just a very necessary evil and I suppose we use them however we wish to

Actually, I think some one think its impressive to let people know "I'[m on a real meet right now!, See verification in a day or two for updates!"

Maybe they think others will go "Wow, people must really want to meet him/her/them - I wonder what am missing out on?". If that's even an exact science?
