Definitely not..I’m thinking when’s the bloody weather going to warm up..

Not a big believer of the magic man in the sky… doesn’t tie in with the Big Bang theory, dinosaurs etc and the beginning of life on earth..

Religion is just a big cause of war and destruction in the world, 2nd only to greed from what I can see..

However each to their own and happy Easter if that’s your thing

It is indeed Palm Sunday.

I'm thinking about my mum who always came home from church with a small palm cross. The last Easter she was alive she was in hospital and the chaplain brought one to her. I think its still in her bible.

Yes but 3rd century analysis diluted it factually but says it a metaphor - the temple is the soul of a person freed from earthly things by Jesus

What an interesting thread to find on Fab (sorry somebody did a Cambridge Diploma studying all sorts of religions).

Interestingly, the incident with the fig tree only comes in two of the gospels Mark and Matthew and it is at the end of the gospels around the triumphal entry and before his death at Passover. The cleansing of the temple of the money lenders comes up in all four gospels, but in John it is at the beginning, whilst the other three it is at the end (same time as the last week of his life, with the triumphal entry and crucifixion at Passover).

Today it is trial, crucifixion, death and burial on good friday.

Good friday is the most difficult day of passion week, christs journey turned treacherous and acutely painful in these final hours leading to his death.

Meanwhile, before the third hour (9 a.m.), jesus endured the shame of false accusations, condemnation, mockery, beatings, and abandonment, after multiple unlawful trials, he was sentenced to death by crucifixion, one of the most horrible and disgraceful methods of capital punishment known at the time.

My dad went to church this morning, he's very knowledgeable about the bible they often ask him for his opinion. He said it was very sombre but they had hot cross buns and coffee afterwards and it was quite a cheery affair. He'll be going again on Sunday when the service will be very cheerful

It’s Ramadan where I am , I choose not to eat drink, smoke or play music through my headphones in the presence of my Muslim brothers and sisters. We have different beliefs but there’s a lot of love and respect for each other.

I joke to them that 12 hours isn’t proper fasting - our guy managed 40 days. They struggle not to laugh .

He always knew this would happen. He predicted the treachery, lies and death several times and chose not to defend himself. He was given many opportunities by the Romans to simply deny he was God and take a smaller punishment. But he chose death.

Sticking to what you know is true and right often has a high cost!

Today is resurrection sunday.

Early sunday morning, several women (mary magdalene, joanna, salome, and mary the mother of james) went to the tomb and discovered that the large stone covering the entrance had been rolled away, an angel announced:

"Dont be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified, he isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen"

Actually this has been the first time I've attended church on Easter weekend, actually very surprised how packed it was. The Good Friday service was much more sombre and the Sunday was alot more joyful.

I do think, even for Atheists, the story of the Crucifixion has relevance.

For example the story of Judas is a good message for valuing friendships over money and material things (Judas hanged himself full of remorse).

And I do think that if more people listened to what Jesus told his disciples at the Last Supper (Love one another as I have loved you) the world would be a much better place.
