Used equipment to set myself up as a freelance after being made redundant.

Hastily arranged £20k loan from the bank and bank of mom & dad, 2 days of stress, 2 trips to London to sell off the excess kit and by then end of the week loans were paid back, had some cash left over and also the equipment I needed for work.

The joys of right place, right time, right knowledge set me up for a few years

All de money gorn.. ..in de hairy bank!(as the soca song goes)

My multitudinous hobby stuff has either been gifted to me (Clutter conscious widows can't wait to get rid of the old man's junk)or bought cheaply at auctions, charity shops, boot sales and rallies. If I can't afford I don't buy.

My house stays at less than 18C as well, to help with the more and more precarious cashflow.

When I was in my late teens a mate and I used to go to a fitness club in Henley above a hair salon. It was nothing special and not expensive. One day I'd forgotten my t shirt so decided to get one from the local sports shop. I picked on out and the assistant turned round and said (down his nose) is this suitable for sir, its not too expensive is it? Bloody cheek. so I brought it anyway. It cost £25 when back in the day I was earning £50 per week! (1982 ish)
