Why the car parked on the opposite pavement would get a ticket? It's not a dropped kerb and there are no double yellows and other cars have parked there before. Saw it this morning and it's left me rather befuddled.

If it is actually on the pavement it could get a ticket. Or if it is a 40 mph road and the car didn't have side lights on overnight.

Maybe it is because it is ON the pavement? Without knowing details, cars should not block pavements, forcing parents with prams or disabled to step into the road to get past.

Although parking on a pavement isn't specifically prohibited, it can be ticketed for causing an obstruction.

If people have parked there before, it just means it wasn't spotted previously.

Maybe a person with a pushchair, or someone with a disability has complained about it blocking their way ?

Ahhh that actually sounds the most likely. It did cover a good chunk of the pavement, pretty much all of it but it's a fairly quiet area for cars to park and others have mounted the kerb to park as well all over the estate.

in London it's been an offence regarding proximity to crossings, junctions etc..

There's proposals to roll it out to cover all pavement parking..

It's wildly as it comes under the same as an obstruction if was on the road but public right of way. was huge talks about this year's ago that anyone caught parked on the pavement do they need to re-take their driving test because mounting the curb was always a fail

Well , what do you know, looks like it’s time for me to refresh the Highway Code again. I knew about this in America and always knew it was a good idea not to do it here but didn’t realise it had become an actual rule

“ Rule 248

You MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow unless in a recognised parking space.”

Sorry Posh, the guy saw the ticket, ripped it up in front of the warden who is now embarking on a high speed chase through the country trying to catch him. Will keep you posted as and when the updates come

Parking on the pavement is illegal.

Is it fully on the pavement or half on half off?

It's all about whether your local authority has different laws to the nationwide one about parking on verges - but generally, it's a ticketable offence to park on the verge (basically that anywhere to the side of the carraigeway)

All councils can introduce TROs which ban pavement parking. They have to announce it and put up signs.I live in a small village which has a large school. Came home other day to find ten cars ticketed on my street alone. Wasn't even at school times,just residents trying not to block a narrow road

Some people keep parking tickets to put on their own window if they are either a) parking illegal or b) think their parking may cause a ticket. - to prevent actually getting ticketed.

It's against the law to park on the pavement in LONDON. In the rest of the country it is not. It's thoughtless and discouraged but not against the law.

They most certainly do. I got sent one for "parking more than 12" from the kerb".....in reality, I'd pulled into a space (across someone's drive, engine still running) to let an oncoming vehicle pass.

Funnily enough, it was rescinded as soon as I challenged it!

Always challenge parking tickets, they'll invariably back down!
