Yes but i cook larger portions like home made lasagne and freeze for a good 4to 5 more portions or cook a whole chicken, and get four to five meals from it

But it is hard

I had this a while back, the way I got round it was using a smaller plate.

for a penny

There are plenty of recipes for two. Eat one portion and save the other for later.

I always do either too much or too little pasta.

I can't eat large meals so I take a little from my son's meat and add one potato.

If I'm making a shepherd's pie or fish pie for my daughter I always do too much mash.

"I had this a while back, the way I got round it was using a smaller plate. "

I had a friend who used to do this at buffets to keep his calories under control. I'd never seen a plate before that was piled higher than it was wide...

Doesn't bother me. If I over cook I just over eat. Eventually I will eat it all, it's not like it goes to waste.

I cook all the usual dishes for four and freeze three of them so always have a freezer full of homemade portions for one!

What I find more difficult are salads/stir fries as can't but smaller portions

Yep, I can totally relate to that.

I'm not one for microwave meals for one.

I used to buy a pack of two chicken breasts or six sausages and batch cook, and then have a little nibble before bedtime of the leftovers, leaving not enough for the next day's dinner!

Now if I buy two chicken breasts, one gets left out for cooking that night and the other goes straight into the freezer!

It might mean that I use my oven more often but will hopefully stop me become a lardass!

It's making a cup of coffee or tea where I fuck it up. I always fill it to the brim and spill it when I try to pick it up . Can't do it.

No. I cook enough for 2 or 3 and eat for 1

Cook 4 portions and eat 1 portion. Freeze or keep 3 for other meals.

Best thing to do is shop at a local market, then you can buy just 1 of what you need

No I'm quite wasteful when over cooking, so I tend to order in portion sizes and still eat too much before chucking it

Wow, things are really slipping on the forums, over twenty posts in and nobody has made a ‘large portion’ related innuendo.

I never stuggle.

Whether a dessert says 'serves 6' or served 24'....

It's just me and a spoon and I aways win.

Most people are the same tbf. As has been said, freeze and use another time or use it as a basis of another dish next day. That way it does not feel you have the same again. Alternatively, take some to neighbours, as I sometimes do, or invite a friend round. You can of course by a meal for one, though I often find they are so small you probably have to buy two of those which defeats the object amd of course its always best to cook your own with fresh ingredients. Whatever you do, enjoy

Whenever I cook I make a huge pan of whatever it is 8+ portions it’s not sensible to cook 1 portion for 1 person. Give some to your family, friends, freeze it or just graize on it for a few days. Eat a large portion if you want to then skip a meal. It’s food, one of the most basic and simple things in life.
