I do think society is promiscuious therefore if sexual health services were not free there would be an epidemic of sexual related disease- naff all to do with swinging, a small percentage of the population swing.

Not at all. Most swingers are relatively safe and yes we get checked regularily. But this has to be cheaper than treatment for many stds? (That's a complete guess and stab in the dark!) We are much better than those under 25 who use the morning after pill as a contraception because its free. Are those who use free condom schemes a drain?

No we shouldn't pay as we already pay our taxes etc which contribute towards the NHS anyway so in effect we already pay

Most stds are treated with very cheap antibiotics costs would be minimal.

Costs for specialised clinics and staff would be substantial

Erm, watching the other thread but as I know the storm it gets and the simple fact it can not be discussed sensibly Im avoiding it.

As food for thought ..

I will say this; treatment for hiv/aids/ and other std/sti's costs so much more than screening does.

Smokers pay a huge tax on cigs, towards the NHS, and the gp used to tell people to smoke, so they have a role in getting people hooked on smoking.

When did a gp ever tell you to go bareback with strangers, or not to excersize?

Very true, people are having sex all the time and I'm sure a lot of one night stands take place with no thought for contraception.

Aside from the lifestyle aspect, I believe most people would be cautious about being safe.

There will always be exceptions.....I ride a bike.....should I penalised by the NHS for cycling to work ? No.

Just be responsible in all that you do

.Not at all even if we swing. What i've learnt since joining this site is how responsible people who swing are. Those who don't swing show more careless attitude when it comes to protect themselves

I have some friends who don't even carry condom when we go out. They all will text me from a dark corner of the night club asking if i got any condom with me.

Actually, in respect to GUM clinics, Swingers are one of the few groups who use the NHS for what is universally accepted as the best form of medicine - preventative healthcare.

Isn't prevention better than cure ?

Surely it would cost the NHS to actually have to treat a lot of people that actually have STI's rather than checking on people and making sure that they have a clean bill of health

Deviant City

surely free STI checks and the odd bag of 6 condoms is far drain on the NHS than gastric surgery and tummy tucks for loose skin that overweight people get from the NHS. Also what if their surgery went wrong? More expense. Then theres medication for high blood pressure T2 Diabetes etc etc.....

little house on the praire

So are GUM clinics there just for swingers, i know my local one (which i dont go to) as im not sitting in a room with a load of 16/18 year .

Everyone gets free condoms swingers not, lots of place where the younsters can get free condoms. I would geusse out all the gum clinics that less non swingers than swingers.

Next you will be saying women who have a smear test will be a burden on the nhs because thdy have had sex at sometime in theer life

And let's not forget those smokers who are also a drain with lung cancer, heart disease etc.....

I don't think any one group is a drain on the NHS as all of us may develop any number of medical problems which will need to be treated, lots of people get involved in sport and dangerous sports which may cause joint and bone problems.

It is there for one and all, noone is more deserving than others.

rochdale

On that note..

i do what some would consider a dangerous sport - mountain biking, at speed over technical terrain and often in remote locations. Yes, i run the risk of injury but my health is far better for it and i have a far lower risk of heart/lung conditions, strokes' and diabetes, all of which cost the NHS far more in long term care. No one should be punished for their lifestyle choices as long as they do the best they can to prevent illness and injury.
