Anyone ever been for one, an whats it like please? I'm going for one tomorrow an totally shittin it lol..

i went for one last week.........only thing id say is take a general anesthetic and not just the throat spray........then u remember nothing, simples lol

It hurts like a bastard and you pass blood for about a week, cant keep food down for at least 2 weeks and it also stops you getting a full erection for 6 months........

You will probably be offered a mild sedative, but it isnt painful.x

Oh dear, I haven't personally but my daughter has and is due to have another, there are two options usually of how much you want to be sedated, slightly or fully, obviously if you choose fully then you will stay in hospital that bit longer. You will have a sore throat for a while afterwards.

When I had one I couldn't take the throat spray, it just made me gag, so I was given a mild sedative, can;t remember a thing and certainly no after effects. You will be fine xx

had it done by mlid sedative ..never again i seemingly have a very small throat n it was very uncomfortable n sore but that was me ..the old lady who had it done after me sailed thru ..so everyone diff..i didnt get a choice to take stronger sedative but will do if i have to have another 1 just relax n u will b ok x

I watched a few in my nursing days ... best advice I can think of is to have the stronger sedative, relax and keep swallowing ... good luck

i have had it done twice the last time with the throat spray. all i would say is i would get put out next time, am no wuss just my opinion on the two methods

Had it done some years ago,it was fine,no probs.

I'm a martyr to sore throats,so mentioned it and asked them to make sure it was well lubed.

Had something like a pre-med and was semi conscious.

Mind you,I usually go off with mild sedatives or pre-meds anyway.

The only thing I can remember was gagging slightly as it was withdrawn.

Don't worry,you'll be fine.

Had a valium and some spray down the throat - the worst bit was fighting the gag reflex as it goes down, but once past that (a few seconds) it was fine - actually quite interesting cause he let me look at the screen (I have a very pretty oesophagus I'll have you know) Don't worry you'll be just fine xx

yeah but first time i was knocked out. second time i agreed to let the specialist nurse do it overlooked by the professor. felt it hitting places in my tummy as they did it thoroughly coz of learning. just think that if your out of it then thats better, your not watching the clock thinking wish they would hurry up and get on with it

I've not had one of these but I've had a colonoscopy and an angiogram - both under mild sedation and I managed to convince the staff to position the monitor where I too could see the procedure. Fascinating stuff. I'd recommend it.

yeah maybe so, i too find things like that interesting. but a gag in a female mouth for a long while goes against nature i feel
