"I've never once complimented a guy on how he looks but I have complimented a few male friends on things they have done or achieved. " I've never received a compliment from a guy in regard to my appearance either apart from on here which I take with a pinch of salt.

"I compliment other blokes - and have received compliments from other blokes too It seems odd to me that anyone would question it " Constant (and I mean constantly) banter!

"I always try and make a conscious effort nowadays to compliment other guys, don't think there's enough of it happening and think the world would be a little better if it happened more." Totally agree, and your hot

"I've never once complimented a guy on how he looks but I have complimented a few male friends on things they have done or achieved. " There. That’s it, that’s what one used to. It’s never - nice haircut! (More like - when are you getting it finished!) But stuff they do, or had a struggle and pick them up? Yes, we do that, because we are a team. Just looks and image is ignored or jokingly mocked!

"I was told I don’t look my age, or I look good for my age from a mate just yesterday. It took me two or 3 back and forths and joking to realise he’d mean it. Do many other men find themselves realising we just constantly rip into each other, constant banter without actually being sincere? When’s the last time YOU either said something about someone’s appearance to make a guy feel good, or had the same to you? It got me thinking, I say it to women when they look good, why not to a dude? Would you? *I’m just getting ready and looked at myself and remembered his compliment, it’s stuck with me, so I guess it kinda worked. " British humour is based on sarcasm so although some do compliment many will use humour

"Nice cock Woody " - he shouted to the farmer in the field as Mr Sprout walked into the local village….

"I wish they would . Sadly I think we live in a world where we are constantly surrounded by messaging to make us feel "less than " it's how we are sold to . People don't always realise the power of a genuine compliment, especially ones that are about more than how we look (as lovely as they are) When were you last told you were appreciated or that someone was proud of you? " I had a work appraisal that went well…. Oh, I get your point.

"I find the opposite, real life and Fabland. Very rarely get compliments from women. My male friends pay me compliments and men here almost daily." Compliments from strangers mean very little. They’re pleasant but that’s it at best. But if it’s someone you know, it holds so much more meaning. It’s really nice to get one from someone you are familiar with isn’t it?

" Sorry Woody if you thought I was directing that comment at you personally It was a general comment aimed at those that think blokes complimenting other blokes is "gay" in some way ... and they will be out there, the "men should be men" brigade

"i think the ladies give less compliments out than men.. just the way it is" I only compliment if I really mean it, and something has really caught my attention. I do think (on here especially) that some users (men, mainly) throw around "compliments" just to get a shag. As a straight man, I'm assuming Woody's mates aren't trying to compliment to get in his jeans

Is that why we sometimes are reluctant to say something here. I know loads of people that I definitely could conpliment or say something super nice, that could be taken as a way of flirting. So I dont. I do t want to give the wrong impression because it’s very very hard to set the right time with text.

"…. Not so much on the deeper stuff like what their friendship means to me, but to be fair I don't tell my women friends that either - I should probably start, but might need a personality transplant first." As I’m getting older I’m much more truthful and have deeper thoughts and conversations with friends now. I think because I wear glasses and have greys in my facial hair,,they listen to me more.

"No reason why people should not genuinely compliment someone and eith no agenda. I fo and had it done you me too. It's only people with personal insecurities that would question this as something else in my opinion " Trust me, on here, lots of people "compliment" disingenuously. "You're absolutely stunning", reads the unsolicited message. We do not reply or delete the message, because the profile is not of interest. Follow up message "you're a fat ugly old wench, f*** you for not replying" (or words to that effect). Which one is their true view?! Anyway, Woody, I agree guys don't compliment guys very often. I can't remember ever hearing Mr KC and his male associates do it. Nor around his Dad etc.

" made me laugh out loud I’ve been known to compliment a gentleman before. I don’t know if that’s odd or not but I ‘grew up’ in a bodybuilding gym where people would routinely give compliments so perhaps it just stuck. If a compliment comes from a good place, is well intentioned and doesn’t seek anything other than to be nice then it’s got to be a good thing surely. Enough negativity in the world as it is.

I do it often, not through conscious effort or to make gains in any way, just because I like to. I’ll regularly tell a guy I like what he’s wearing or that he’s looking good (not strangers, but not necessarily close friends either - maybe someone in the group I am with). Most guys take it in the spirit it’s intended, but I can see some don’t know how to or don’t like it. That, to me, suggests we are still in the age of ‘that’s what girls and gays do’ which is a shame. Ps - Woody - I hope today goes well, pal!

"I tell my lad mates they're good looking bastards all the time. Well, not in a weird way but if it comes up. Don't get it loads myself but I think men should compliment each other. For example woody, you're a good guy! Suited and booted, looks like a fucking champion. Fucking being the key word there. Piscean dream I can see is dream and totally get why any woman would want to pogo on him. Bloody competition! " I aim to please
