I've stayed in Kew many times but never been through the gates.

Am I missing much ?

I used to have an annual pass when my kiddos were younger and went frequently for many years. I love it, it’s so relaxing and so much to explore. If it’s a nice / warm day take a picnic as food is quite pricey.

It's pretty dull unless you like botany in which case it's ace.

I lived 5 mins away for 5 years and went once.

I spent quite some time there few years back filming a series.

Was a lovely place and especially calm when the gardens are closed to public early in the morning.

The gardens are quite large and there are a few different themed areas. As others have said there are big greenhouses too, full of exotic plants. Nice place for a wander if the weather's nice.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, colloquially called "Kew Gardens", are very beautiful. There are glasshouses of varying ecozones and temperate regions, an arboretum, flower gardens, palm house, pagoda, conservatories, galleries, cottages, childrens' garden, tea rooms, treetop walkway, expensive and posh restaurant, brasserie and bars and shit.

I got married there....

Despite the sky-high ticket prices, indifferent attitudes of their staff and general aloofness of that place, it's still worth a visit.

I should visit more often despite living so close to Kew.

I love botanical glass houses, I would love a visit. One of my favourite childhood memories is visiting an old but still used glasshouse at a park next to where we went swimming. We were already damp from the pool and going in the fuggy glasshouse for a walk about was always amazing to feel the humidity and see the plants.

Truth is I get taken when I am visiting relatives in London.

I'm polite. To me it's just a huge park with a greenhouse a shop and a cafe.

Yes I know they do tremendous work with plant species but I don't enjoy spending a couple of hours walking around looking at them.

If I want a walk there are better places.

The only place I detested more is The Eden Project in Cornwall.

Aldershot makes me think Army not parks. I'm sure someone told me many moons ago that they were going to Aldershot for basic training.

It's VERY expensive for admission and to eat and drink ....

It's a HUGE garden.

In fairness ^ I should have added that most of the plants at 'Kew' are rare specimens, collected by pioneers of horticulture and from all over the world. It’s also home to the worlds largest collection of trees and plants. Kew is like no other; both educational and fascinating.

I think it's name explains what it is, it's not countryside, it's Gardens, so it's very different to countryside or garden centres.

We went to wakehurst place last year as I have a blur light card and got free entry for me, driving up we said we should get a national trust membership....we drove out saying we wouldn't be getting one.

If you like plants then I'm guessing those kinds of places would be heaven but I'd rather go to a garden centre, look about a bit and spend an hour in the cafe with a coffee and some cake!
