Is it me but every time I go out ie pub supper market motor way service s public toilets the condom machine as disappeared , you could get every type u needed buzzing ring flavour condoms gel ?

I worked in the vending industry for 25 years.

The biggest issue we had was vandalism.

We lost tens of thousands of pounds worth of stock and equipment over that period of time.

The other issue we had was greedy pub owners who wanted a bigger and bigger cut with each passing year.

They had no investment and no overheads in any of the vending machines and 40 years ago were taking less than 10 percent of the profits in sales commission.

By 2013 most customers were demanding between 50 and 60 percent and while some multinationals were able to subsidise those figures with other products they supplied, all the independent companies went to the wall.

Margins on anything sold through a vending machine are always tight especially when profits have to be split with the site owner.

In the late 90s there were enough independent vending companies to form co-ops to increase buying power and allow them compete with the multinationals.

When I left the industry in 2013 there were only 2 left and I'd be amazed if either of those was still operating now.

I mean to be fair to the pub owners ect, the machine is on their property, using their customers so yeah, I’d expect them to want a decent cut of the profits from a vending machine someone else places in the business they set up, 10% is seriously low balling for that, I’d expect they’d want more and that’s not greedy, that’s life and the economy squeezing every last penny it can out of small businesses
