Is it just us that get frustrated that you work hard on writing a decent message to people and accross the course of the 'conversation' they only ever reply with one sentance?

Its not a text message, there is no charecter limit!!

This really frustrates us. It’s worse when the profile is really well written, yet the DMs are like getting blood out of a stone. Only takes a couple of messages like that - particularly in the early stages of conversations - to turn us off.

Doesn’t need to be War and Peace each time, but it’s hard to build rapport with three word replies.

Exactly.... I just wrote a decent reply to a couple and got instantly accused of it being a copy and paste as well.

If you dont like what your hearing then dont reply at all and save my time!

I always inform people if their messages are not to a standard I require, either that or I block them for being lazy lol.

I need people that are good communicators ,it is none negotiable.

If it is over a couple of messages/conversations I put it down to lack of interest, so move on.

People can have bad days and just not feeling it, so not to be hasty I give a chance. But if all they do is have no effort in our conversation then I stop making effort myself.

Yep.

I never put any expectations on others re messaging, especially as we're never quick to reply ourselves.

Some days are hectic. If we reply at all it'll be a quick line or two. Other times we're free to have longer chats in more detail.

If you're getting pissy because someone's responses aren't to your liking then move on. They owe you nothing. There's no defined contract that states a required word count or speed of reply. If anything less than an essay is not appreciated then stop contact.

Use it as another filter.

A

I don't send messages so the ones that bug me are people who get in touch and I respond in kind and they suddenly revert to one word messages.

Why make contact in the first place if you aren't capable of carrying a conversation?

A one sentence or a one word reply is just monosyllabic to me , they offer no continuation..they are just replying and make no effort at all so for me it's bye bye , they can waste others time if they wish but they're not wasting mine .

I haven't been told yet by anyone that my messages aren't to standard but I must say I haven't checked if I've been blocked...

I’m guilty of this (surprising when I waffle on so much in the forums).

I sometimes am just people exhausted.

That makes no sense I know.

It does make sense. You have messages and you might not feel in the right frame of mind to reply, so you have the dilemma of either leaving them unanswered or dropping a quick short reply.

I feel like this often,I explain I am going offline if it is mid chat, otherwise they will have to have patience.

I’m guilty of it too, sometimes there are simply too many to keep up, sometimes I’m just tired today, sometimes I’ve found the conversation has run its course and it’s a social cue, I’d rather them take the hint than demand explanations

There are lots of you, I’m only one person here for escapism like anyone else, it can get stressful so I refuse to stress over it

We click or we don’t, I refuse to push what doesn’t

Lucky to get a reply to my often considered missives. One time wrote quite a long message to a couple in response to ‘outdoor oppirtunities’ in yhis area. I wasnt pushing to be involved just sharing what i knew. Response just briefly moaned about a typo or two. Common (in) decncy costs nowt. ?

This.

The messages bear no resemblance to the profile. In fact I often wonder if it’s even the same person/people replying.

Very disappointing, I need that spark of attraction from initial messaging.

I haven't read every reply but i've read enough.

Does it say anywhere that they must use the same system as you for meeting ?

Does your profile state that you expect a lengthy reply ? In any case YOU messaged them, not the other way around.

They responded. If it's not enough for you move on to the next one.

Hope that helps

Here’s my top tip to myself. - if I feel that they are not interested enough to reply and keep me interested by being interesting, I should forget it and give my energy to someone that is.

That includes the way I read profiles, look at photos and read messages.

People match with people like them. It’s a fact, there’s too many people here to match with everyone.

I will admit that I can reply with just one sentence, but that is if someone very obviously hasn't read my profile and are asking stupid questions.

If someone has gone to the effort of sending me a decent message (not crude or stupid questions) then I will always put effort into my reply.
