If someone finds and ailing grey squirrel or an abandoned baby grey Squirrel then it is illegal to return it to the wild after you’ve nursed it back to health, therefore if an organisation like SSPCA/RSPCA get involved they have no choice but to euthanise it. In America where they come from they are hunted and eaten. But you have already had that argument. I’m not so sure that GS do damage to the trees as after all, Deer do too, but they do eat more than their fair share of food than the Reds can get. | |||

" They've stripped a hell of a lot of trees in the woods behind my house. Though the one immediately behind my garden is a sycamore that's covered in ivy and they have been nesting in that for years. There is a new set of young ones every year and they have never stripped any bark from that one. Great fun watching the young ones on their first ventures out. | |||
