"Difficult to steer from inside a closet. " My thoughts entirely. I think he's "fab straight". Not that that has any baring on his driving abilities.... He's just a spoited bratt and not having the best car shows he's not the best driver.

"Schumacher in the Benetton and Jordan, Hill in the Brabham Hamilton never had to drive cars from the back rows he was dropped into the best cars from the start, now he is having to learn things others did to start with. " I don't think he was driving for Mercedes when he won the British Karting Championship aged 10. He also won championships in Formula Renault where all the cars are the same spec. as well as having success in GP3 and GP2. He even won competitions racing RC cars as young as 7... against adult. " Sadly, there's a lot of people that simply don't like Lewis Hamilton and as such refuse to acknowledge what a good driver he is. I don't know why, but suspect there's at least some elements of racism, since the same things are not directed at other drivers. Personally, I think Max behaves like a spoilt child far too often. He's still undoubtedly a fantastic driver. Nita

I appreciate most of us have sportspersons we dont like because...well....just because. But the dislike of Lewis seems out of proportion. Personally, from what ive seen if him in interviews, especially more relaxed ones away from the circuit, he seems quite a genuinely nice guy. But you have to laugh at some suggestions that he's a shit driver..privileged. Absolutely ridiculous

It just seems par for the course for people to be haters when someone wins. Obviously when they start losing everyone starts to love them again - takes some time but look at Vettel now.

That’s an interesting observation. Do you think when they lose form and stop winning they regain humility and then become likeable again. I have no interest in current F1, I am just posing the question.

"He only wins in the best car, true champions win in the worst car!" A stupid statement Verstappien is a much bigger brat than Hamilton. And I often saw Hamilton take a car that was not as good in Maclarens declining years and win in it. Even Mercedes has admitted their car is uncompetitive. I doubt Hamilton haters on here have a tenth of his ability. I do however think that he is notbas hu gry as he was.

I certainly dont remember Hunt, Hill, Mansell or Button being hated to any extent.

Never liked Andy Murray either, not because he is ginger and he isn't black, so maybe it was just him and his anti England jibe at the World Cup. But you may have a point as I can't stand Chris Froome and he's African.

"Schumacher is the goat won the title in 1994,95,2000 and 2003 when it was not the best car, 2003 was maybe even the 3rd best car on the grid. Hamilton has only ever won with the clearly the best car." that is crap, other than '95

"anyway... my tuppenceworth. Hamilton polarises opinion, personality wise.. but he is a great.. on that level with senna, schuey, fangio... etc. best car? they all had them... but messi doesn't play for Barnet..! take him in junior formulas.. won them all (they all have the same car btw). but so did max, george, charles... they are special drivers. take 2009. Lewis won 2 races in an awful car." Messi would be the car the the best teams would try to get. So bad analogy there.

The point being: The best drivers end up in the best cars much of the time.. Why? Because they have been identified at an early age, and as they go through the junior categories, they win, and win, and win.. And so when they get to F1 they are very quickly snapped up by the best teams, who have the most money, and the best cars.. Just like footballers.. It is a perfect analogy.

"Hamilton comes across as very entitled and arrogant that's why I don't like him at all. Also no one has mentioned how Hamilton is the greatest driver ever, yet he was out performed by his new team mate last year! I think he had gotten too used to having the best car on the grid and all the wins coming so easily. I'm not sure he has the hunger and motivation to help improve the car and fight for the championship anymore. He seems to be to distracted by his music and fashion ventures!!! ![]() ![]() I used to like him until a few year back when he had a bad car. Boy did he whinge the whole season like a brat. According yo him it was everyone's else's fault except his.
