The bass line to Bad Liar by Selena Gomez is identical to Phycho Killer by _alking heads.

Both great songs though.

Sam Smith and Tom Petty ..he wrote the song Stay to the same chords ( but slower) to Tom Petty's won't back down .

Puff Daddy wrote I'll be missing you to the same music of The Police's Every Breath you take .

Somewhat famously...The main riff from New Orders Blue Monday...is a rip off I'd Donna Summers Our Love.

I still love Blue Monday tho...

BRIDPORT

Not a riff, but the entire melody of a country track called Wabash Canonball , was taken by Chuck Berry and the lyrics changed to make his track The Promised Land.

Lonnie Donegan did an excellent version of The Wabash Canonball.

The gorgeous Angie Stone's "Wish I Didn't Miss You" has the riff from the Ojays ""Backstabbers".

Both brilliant songs & always enjoy Eddie Leverts Ojays harmonies.

Also Don't Take Away The Music by Tavares borrows heavily from that song.

Maybe, not so obvious to me but there are similarities. All good music & bands, so many of the 60's & 70's soul band put real effort into the performance & outfits as well as the song.

Happens so so much. Killing Joke 'Eighties', Nirvana 'Come as you are'. Absolutely LOVE them both!

I write music and if someone ripped a riff of mine off (and the track was great) I'd be flattered. Less flattered if their track was awful! haha

The stranglars famously said this in a court case against Elastica!
