computer help please

a elderly neighbour had her laptop stolen and had replaced it however she said that nothing works and can i try to help not great myself but can muddle through sometimes

2 main questions if her orange dongle worked in old laptop should it automaticaly work with new one if not what do i need to do

and

she has a new wifi printer am i correct that it wont ever work as she uses dongle not wifi ?

help appreciated

Yes orange USB will work in the other computer

And no her wifi printer won't work because you need a router but can be plugged in with USB you can buy 3G routers which you just plug orange wifi in and it shares out the 3g and printers and files if you wanted them too

While the USB dongle should work, check the model is compatible with the Operating system.

Some older dongles don't like the Windows 7, or if its very new a chance the machine has Windows 8.

The orange website is a good place to if the dongle needs newer software.

Not necessarily true about printer. I assume you nean its a wireless one? As long as the laptop has wireless capability which it undoubtedly has if new. You will be able to use the printer and connect to it directly. It doesn't need a router

With regards to the dongle it should have per-loaded software that will install on the laptop the first time you plug it in

Yep it will work on any laptop regarding of operating system, unless it is 98 or me also yes as long as laptop is wireless it will work

for both the dongle and the printer you may need to install drivers - windows7 should handle this no problem though...
