Email them to your phone then save the pictures.

I’m not technical in the slightest so I’d just email them to myself, access the email on my phone and save from there.

Download a wireless transfer app onto your phone, you go to the web address on your PC and the pics will transfer over your WiFi

Depending on your phone you could find they won't fit or they will fill your phone up so nothing else does!

Argos have an external hard drive for under £40

Or use the cloud! It is safe... Dropbox, Google photos, Microsoft one drive all give you free storage space.

100% I’d be connecting the phone via cable to the pc, opening up the phone in explorer, go to the DCIM folder and drag and drop the photos you want in there

the abyss

I'd be using a harddrive for that many. I have one that just stores all photos and not that expensive. Can then be plugged into another laptop/PC to be viewed or used when wanted without clogging up phone.

Or use cloud/Google drive

Buy an external hard disk that have usb cable , connect it to your laptop , instantly you will find the drive , select all pictures , drag them to your new drive.

Download Google photos, point it to the directory that your pix are in and then let it sync. It will back up all your pictures.

First question is has your phone got the space available for just over 5000 photos, depending on the size of the photos I’d say you’d need about 32gb of free space on your phone.

Me personally if your looking to replace the computer or insufficient space on your phone, I’d copy the photos to a external hard drive as another member said alternatively easier option 32gb usb memory stick.. there’d still be on the computer and backed up usb stick should the computer fail.

Never good to keep all your photo memories in one place,

Lots of good advice already, just be careful as you may not have enough room on your phone which could become a new problem in itself.
