Are you a food snob?

Do you have to have a certain brand or quality of food before you eat it?

Do you just grab what you can, where you can and feed your face?

Do you spend hours preparing meals?

Do you whack the kettle on or nuke your grub?

Don't chase brands, but sample cheaper versions to see which are good/bad.

Plan dinner at midday, as get stuff out of freezer (joy of veg garden)

Hours no, 30 minutes but usually from scratch.

Only nuke tortillas to warm them up now, no ready meals for me.

I always watch what I eat. I eat as little processed food as possible.

And those I do I can't help googling all the additives and preservatives.

I find if I eat junk food it makes me feel really sluggish and lethargic. Plus I get food hangovers. So yes I guess I am a food snob when it comes to quality. But also I do like tasty grub so cook mainly with butter and mainly full fat products etc !

Essex.

I am a bit of a food snob as much as I like nice food well prepared. I love lobster, pheasant, venison etc...

Frisky does a lot of home cooking and has a very good reputation for home made cakes. So in that way I love a good home cooked meal made with love.

I've been priviliged to eat some of the best food in the world...

But sometimes a potnoodle or a fish finger sandwich can really hit the spot.

I eat to live rather than live to eat. If it tastes nice I will throw it in.

In a lot of cases (not all) buying brand names is complete nonsense as it is the same manufacturer/recipe packaged for the retailer

Having recently lost a whack of weight, calorie counting has become almost a hobby. You would be stunned at how unhealthy some things are that so easily made from scratch to be healthier and cheaper....homemade lasagne, you delicious bastard.

Just so long as its fresh and tastes good, I don't mind where it comes from!

That said, if I could take a tablet that gave me all the nutrition and calories I needed, I would happily take it instead of sitting down for a meal.

As I eat most of my meals at work I don't have time to be a snob although not into greasy foods or chips.I quite often have to do the weekly food shop order at work and try to get as healthy products as I can within a budget. If I cook there I like to try from scratch.

Yes and no, depending on what it is.

Yes and no, depending on circumstances.

Yes and no, depending on my mood and menu choices

Yes and no, depending on my mood and what is available in the house.

I am happy to eat any food so long as it is tasty to me, from lowly street food by the kerb side, to 3-star gourmet meal that costs a small fortune.

I love to cook, and do not consider myself a bad cook.

However, I am not a fussy cook who put a lot of efforts into decorating a meal prior to serving, and have been known to eat straight out of the saucepan when I am on my own.

I prefer to cook from scratch, this way I know exactly what has gone into the meal myself.

I do not consider myself a food snob as such, just someone who knows a bit about food for liking all sorts of food.

Yep..I dont rust banded food, 70-80% of the food I eat is branded as I prefer to know its come from a decent source (hopefully!!) as opposed to a back street dive..

I am a coffee snob .... Cannot drink instant chicory-shit coffee, has to be Fresh for caftierre, percolator or tassimo.

Have to have my bottled flavoured water, actimel and bennecol in the house and then I'm a happy bunny.

Tuna has to be John West in Spring Water.

Frozen Veg must be Birds Eye as must Fish Fingers.

Mayo must be Helmans, Ketchup and Salad Cream must be Heinz.

Spread must be Flora

Tampons must be Lillets LOL

Well get this then .....

I found some Samphire in Tesco ... A Tesco finest product. Hellishly expensive but I bought it because it was in the 'just about to expire' shelf. It was still 89p for about 100g this is typical if good British grown produce and in particular with Samphire - a traditionally poor mans meal which can be harvested from many a coastline. 89p would buy you a bushel of it on any Norfolk market and it's been hijacked by High end cuisine and turned into 'posh grub'.

It's absolutely delicious and very nutritious but I resent this 'food elitism'

Harrumph indeed!!..89p for a bushel..don't think so, it has to be hand picked and consequently is never cheap, unless you harvest it yourself..but you have a fair point, Supermarkets will, and do, capitalise on food trends, but of course they also do this at the 'bottom end' as well
