A 1976 Datsun Cherry with full vinyl interior. It was like sitting on the surface of the sun in summer.

Drum brakes, thinnest wheels I've ever seen on a car - the speedo was one of those ones with the little stick that moved across left to right and it was dead slow.

A death-trap in the wet, you could get it sideways at about 25mph, and I once crashed it up the back of a Range Rover whilst not paying attention and looking at girls.

I sold it to a traveller for £60.

A truly terrible, banged up old Austin Mini Mayfair (I think my young mind was being aspirational). It was slightly brown outside and very brown inside, only 1000cc but drove it to the max everywhere.

I’m 6’1” but still managed several liaisons in that little chariot of independence.

RIP you fabulous little bastard.

Transsexual Transylvania

A cream 1970s Mini panelvan. I carpeted the back; side walls too. I had steel plates welded underneath to replace the floor, which was partly rusted away. I sealed it with a layer if anti-rust and a layer of fibreglass and resin.

Then I hardly used it because my gf had a pocket rocket 1600cc Opel Kadett, and preferred to do the driving - which tells you about our relationship.
