The charecter is not recognised, so the software substitutes it. Like "&nspb" you see on websites sometimes for SPACEBAR

  is the HTML code for a non-breaking space (like the space in between words, but a line breaking space) - the general rule is: if you can see the character then it's bad coding.

This site uses BB Code and doesn't support HTML, whereas the OLD profile and forum code DID support HTML - Ahem! Admin!!!
