Somewhere

Whether losing weight, just keeping fit, training for an event/competition or sport.

How did it go?

Good, bad, indifferent, it's all

work in the bank.

Nothing major to report, training is steady, muscle going on, bench hit 180kg this week. That was goal 1. Now have a year to add another 17.5kg to that. Will be lower than my outright PB but will be competing at a much lower body weight.

After many years I swapped from gym to endurance. I still do some strength work, but mostly swim bike run for the past few years. Ironman races booked July and October, training is going good so far, but a way to go yet. My only stated aim is not to be last, something I've managed so far.

Tuesday was my first gym workout for 8 weeks. It wasn't as bad as I was fearing. Kept it light and just went for form over weight. I also went swimming twice and did some strength and mobility exercises twice in the week. Trying in vain to rehab myself because NHS physio is utterly pointless. They printed out some "exercises" without any demo and told me to make another appointment in a month. That's it.

Going well. I've switched to a 3x full body split at the moment due to other commitments and increased strength.

Can do 5x5 reps of squat and deadlift 90kg and Bench 80kg. Doesn't seem like much but I can finally lift more than my bodyweight in these ones.

Only managed 2 days this week as been battling the flu but before that, I managed to hit a PB on my bench press. Only 70kg for 4 reps but I'm absolutely chuffed to bits about as chest as always been a week spot. Hoping to carry on the momentum for major compound lifts while building my way up again for the hypertrophy exercises from the time missed

Pretty good. After a week off on holiday lady week, I always feel like I'm going to struggle, but it's been ok.

In the middle of a hypertrophy block so not pushing max numbers overall, but this was my highest volume week so I was pleased with my conditioning. In a good place hopefully to set some new 8/10 rep PBs next week...

I'll have to start steady as it's been a while, may start back at classes to get me motivated, if I have the confidence to turn up to them

Do you find 3 days enough for building muscle or are you just trying to maintain what you already have? I'd like to cut down to 3 days a week to make space for other stuff (football, table tennis etc.) But not sure if it's the right move

I don't go to gym (see profile) but

I haven't had soft drinks since 1st of March. I am still smoking but limiting myself and now down to 8 per day. I walked 3 times this month. Tonight i only had to stop once to catch my breath instead of 4 to 5 times. I didn't get home and collapse like i did before. I've had no fast food since 16th of Feb.

I felt knackered but great!

Never been in a gym in my life and don't ever intend in being in one , a person's own body weight is more than enough to work with , if a person can move and carry their own weight at whatever sport they choose comfortably in that time then they're doing ok

Yes. I find 3 days a week is enough to build muscle. I maingain most of the year with a 6pack, the last few month before the summer. I do a slow cut to get more shredded, that is good that you also play football and sports too

There's lots of things you can do:

Change how train: pre or post exhaust.

Do cardio /active recovery.

Look at factors outside the gym: sleep, diet. With clients I always work in 12 week blocks.

It's pretty easy

Steps keep you active , but walking doesn't count as exercise. Without reisistsnce based training, you can't increase muscle, which means you're TDEE won't increase .

As a min you should do 150 mins of resistance s d 90 of cardio per week
