New gearbox lasted 5miles!

The old gearbox did nearly 127k miles before it started to go funny.

Got a new gearbox fitted, collected the car this afternoon, drove about 5miles this evening to do a bit of shopping, and the gearbox packed up, and would not let me go into any gear except the second!

I had to call the AA out, left the car at work, and took a taxi home

There will be a lot of red faces at the garage where the new gearbox was fitted I can assure you!

And it is not due to the way I drive!

AA SAY 755 of their call out are to cars that have just been serviced or ha work done in a garage, says it all.

Update!

A new gearbox is required, apparently the fault was with the gearbox and has nothing to do with the fitting of it etc...

cough cough.... saying nothing more about 'British' cars..... most of mine was running on replacement parts at only eight months old
