"It helps those people looking for professionals to meet up with. I expect a high level of decency and respect from someone stating they are a professional. " Agree, it can help elude to the type of people they are. Good or bad it’s down to your choice. Sometimes I like professional/sophisticated others I want Chavy for example.

"We never understood what "professional" actually means..... a builder can be professional, a sparkie, a chef, a lawyer, a doctor - what next mensa scores & a credit check before a meet? We have good careers, high pressure for results and know how to behave in certain situations, but equally love to act like children & laugh at fart jokes. It's just snobbery pure & simple. " This X

"I've never really understood what professional on here means ![]() ![]() Do it. Own it. That's my thinking. If you can't be proud of your choices then perhaps you ought to rethink them. Privacy is desired and expected when it comes to personal business and/or sex but feeling ashamed is a different thing.

"When I wrote my profile, I stated I was a professional. Some other profiles state the same - for either gender - others don’t. But does it make a blind bit of difference to anyone who reads it?" Doesn’t make a difference to me. Plenty things put me off profiles, I don’t think that would.

"We've both got professional qualifications, people often ask us what we do by message and at meets. What are we supposed to say if appearing to be professionals is so reprehensible? ![]() I don't think it's appearing professional that's the issue. It's stating so as a prelude to anything else. I'm with the skeptics on this. It's not a dealbreaker, but it points the wrong direction.

"We would generally avoid people who state themselves as professional. Somehow it seems those that state themselves as that, think they hold all the cards when wanting to meet. F In what way?" Being 'professional' automatically puts you in a higher stead to other people. Either consciously of subconsciously which in turn makes the 'professional' person presume they have more of a say on meets etc. At least, that's how we/I have witnessed it. Not to say that's how it is for everyone. Professional and discretion also flies around together. Aren't most people discreet anyway? Being professional doesn't make you in any more need of being discreet. F

"I don't mind either way, though I do know it can mean discretion when sharing info and photos. I am selective for the same reason but don't have professional on my profile" I don't agree with this at all. It's no judge of their character or how discretely they may or may not behave, it's literally just their employment. Arseholery infects all strata of society. Jeez just look at the royal family, politicans, etc. Professional disasters with no sense of dignity or decorum.

I wouldn't assume a professional had the upper hand but I wouldn't let anyone have the upper hand at a meet whoever they were. If you've witnessed that it's not nice

"When I wrote my profile, I stated I was a professional. Some other profiles state the same - for either gender - others don’t. But does it make a blind bit of difference to anyone who reads it?" It does to other professionals who are looking for similar. If it’s puts some people off then you probably wouldn’t want to meet them anyway. When I’m looking for guys to join for mmf etc I prefer professional men , might be biased but just feel safer

I’ve heard stories of guys down the pub sharing photos of local married women they have met on here comparing stories etc. I think professional people have much more to lose , professional reputation, career etc so are more discrete , careful and and less likely to do anything really dodgy on a meet
