mammogram

Just got appointment through for my first one, have heard mixed reviews and wondered if any ladies could offer me a few encouraging words lol

I have very large boobs and am worried it will hurt. !! Coward I know

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It's uncomfortable rather than hurty hurt.

I'm really short and had to stand on tip-toes for mine. Some of the positions were tricky to hold but it was fine. I was given my results immediately.

I had one and have large boobs ..... not painful just squashed!!

I had my results same day with no problems

its bloody uncomfortable.....but not exactly painful......though if you have bigger boobs they do tend to have to squash you to get a good picture.....i can think of better ways to spend half an hour.....but its better than the alternative

No pain experienced here but then my boobs used to be big but are now softer and squidgier so nothing to get trapped!

Had 2 now, and neither really hurt, just uncomfortable. However, they were over in minutes.

I've had it done few times. Doesn't hurt though, more uncomfortable than painful. Usually get results there and then. Good luck

When I saw "Mammogram", for some reason my brain read "strippergram"

No they're not. We do have to strip a bit but generally it's unpaid and the audience is tiny.

A shortie here too and had to stand on tip toes. Only slight discomfort, didn`t take long and results in a week.

There really is nothing to worry about xx

Just come back from my appointment and thanks for all the support ladies. It was uncomfortable as I do have rather large boobs but she did have lovely soft hands

To any others ladies who are not sure if they should go, please don't put it off!

As others have said it's a bit uncomfortable and possibly embarrassing (the technician/nurse (wo)manhandles your boobs into place). But getting the all clear is worth it.

And for those that get called back, catching anything early is always best.

I've posted this helpful advice from t'interweb for anyone a bit worried about a mammogram

Many women are afraid of their first mammogram, but there is no need to worry. By taking a few minutes each day for the week preceding the exam and doing the following practice exercises, you will be totally prepared. And best of all, you can do these simple practice exercises right in the privacy of your own home.

Exercise 1: Freeze two metal bookends overnight. Strip to the waist. Invite a stranger into the room. Press the bookends against one of your breasts. Smash the bookends together as hard as you can. Repeat with the other breast. Set an appointment with the stranger to meet next year and do it again.

Exercise 2. Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast between the door and the main box. Have one of your strongest friends slam the door shut as hard as possible and lean on the door for good measure. Hold that position for five seconds. Do this again in case the last time wasn't effective enough. Then repeat with the other breast.

Exercise 3. Visit your garage at 3 a.m. when the temperature of the concrete floor is just perfect. Take off all your warm clothes and lay comfortably on the floor with one breast wedged under the rear tire of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until the breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled. Turn over and repeat for the other breast.

CONGRATULATIONS! Now you are properly prepared for your mammogram.
