Do you require a fresh toilet roll or are you okay with half used as you arrive?

Do you need a mint on your pillow? What about the coffee selection and tea bags, are the cheaper stuff okay or does it have to be PG tips?

Are cheaper hotels as good as the 4* plus?

I think it depends on the occasion. If it's just a place to crash over night then cheap and nasty is fine. If it's something more special then we like the frilly bits

All that aside a comfy bed is usually suffice - although I do like to splash out for special occasions, maybe a four poster and some spa facilities xx

I’m probably as picky as they come.

What I’ve found is it’s more the level of service and staff, it’s more anticipating my needs than rather me having to ask.

It’s just done and done right!

Typical example, most places I stay will have a room service menu and then perhaps a restaurant / grill menu, I

Might not want something off the room service menu but I expect to be able to order from the other menu and have it delivered …simples!

You only tend to get this level of service once you’ve done your home work on where to stay

As long as it’s clean and not run down I don’t mind. My biggest gripe with hotel meets is the parking and having to walk past reception post shagathon.

At the end of the day I’m there to mess the hotel bed up and not critique the decor, but I stress, it MUST be clean.

Another common one is checking in,

I don’t like to stand around, so an in room check in just takes the edge off.

I’ve travelled extensively and what I’ve learnt it the facilities tend to be the same once you get into a certain star category, it’s more the people and the ambience of the establishment

I'm only really there for the bed, toilet and shower. As long as they're clean and usable, I'm all good. Oh, and I'm definitely not drinking the coffee provided

Location and a comfy bed are the two most important factors to us.

Years ago Shagalodges and Premier 'Get it' Inns had bad reputations for everything from cleanliness to comfort and noise.

Now they're often better quality, cheaper, better placed and far more user friendly than more expensive hotels perceived as 'luxury' or 4*.

Holidays (not that we ever get them) would be different of course. For those you want the best you can afford. But for work trips or Fab meets you don't have to go all out. The essentials are fine for the former and for the latter the company is far more important.

Although that said, I would love to have a Fab meet at the Crazy Bear......just for the photo ops.

Depends what I'm there for, but pretty much I need it to be clean, laid out so I'm not likely to walk into anything when I need a pee, and with a decent size mug available as I can't be doing with drinking out of an egg cup.

And as for toilet rolls, I'm fine with a half one as long as there is another available.

I like to have a door that locks and a bed that doesn't squeak, i dont care whats on the table in terms of drinks i dont drink them, oh and I've found that the pricier hotels can be a little too security conscious some are some are not but they won't just let anyone in and up to rooms, i walked into a hotel I'd stayed in previously and went to have a look around and straight away the receptionist was on me and in fact asked me to leave, they had a no guest policy

Love a decent hotel. King sized comfy bed, strategically placed mirrors, big walk in rainfall shower, big windows with big views ideally, good hotel bar for some fun there too

I’ve been fortunate to stay at establishments which when asked will even change your bedsheets in the middle of the night…..

I paid £147 for a Holiday Inn Express last night. It was on a trading estate in Milton Keynes. New enough and clean enough but fgs it’s a lot of money for a budget brand??

Pretty picky, spent a great deal of time in hotel's over the years, the budget brand that has everything for us though is the village inns they have full size swimming pools, gym if that's your thing, steam and sauna room's, Starbucks, full sky, sports bar with cinema seating, ok food and drinks, free parking on weekends and you can even book yourself in and out without using reception so pretty handy for meets.

I can just about cope with cheap if it's a place to lay your head, brilliant location and good value; a lot of the more budget hotels aren't particularly cheap any more and for £20 extra you can get a far better quality service and experience.

I'm quite fortunate that I'm able to stay in some beautiful hotels; I love the whole experience. From the signature scent in a polished reception where the sound of heels delightfully ring off the high ceilings. The stunning bathrooms, perfect for selfies and long shared showers with champagne and hot, soapy water.

The good breakfast the morning after - hashbrowns are life. And the chance to sit across a table from a friend whose smile matches yours, at the memories of last night and various antics on the bed. On the work desk. Over the sofa. On the floor. In the bathroom.

Different if I’m travelling for business or pleasure.

If it’s business, it’s got to be easy, anonymous, efficient staff, quiet, good wifi, parking and a menu that fits my allowance!!

If it’s pleasure, smaller and more personal - either a boutique b&b or something really special, huge bed, huge bath or shower, great bar/lounge/restaurant.

For either circumstance my absolute minimum is clean, good order, with a good shower. Nothing worse than glancing down in the shower to see a rogue pube…..

I like a nice hotel, we don't get much child free time so like to make the most of it.

I wouldn't complain about a half used toilet roll but do look for nice rooms/large shower/bath etc, get some nice photos while we have the chance.

I paid £105 (incl. breakfast) at a lovely hotel in the Welsh borders. It had a spa and swimming pool too. Much nicer than a Travelodge or Holiday Inn.
