My mental health is like a rollercoaster at the moment. Is anybody else like that or I'm I the only weirdo? What helps you deal with your mental health issues? X

I’ve been suffering with anxiety for the last 2 years, how I deal with it, other than therapy, is to distract myself with doing things.

After being brought up by hippy parents that where part of the Rajneesh movement, a long time ago I embraced my own spiritualy and have always embraced yoga, meditation and guidence from gurus, in which I spent time in India traveling to various ashrams.

This has always given my the tools to deal with mental health issue but, we all need to find our own ways.

I’m fucking crazy OP embrace the weirdo.

Been a rough week. Lost somewhere last year who meant a lot to me. I simply cannot process the loss and I’m resigned to carrying the weight until my dying day.

But we move.

Because of my knee operation I've not been working. I think that's playing a big part. I've always worked and think it's having a knock on affect. I'm applying for jobs etc and it's soothing after I send a few applications off. I think not having success on fab is also a big factor x

I completely agree. You have to keep moving forward. Dwelling on things is just bad

Yep, crippling anxiety that comes out of nowhere. It's actually been physically painful, which is a new phenomenon. Probs hormonal, woman of a certain age and all that!

At the moment I'm going for long walks. Can't gym yet. My physio has said no. But I listen Latin reggaeton. But as soon as I take the headphones anxiety rolls back in again lol

Writing things down helps me and meditation.

I didn't think Writing would help, but once I tried it, it really did help. Worth trying.

Could even sell the words as song lyrics.

Definitely not the only one mate.

I got signed off work at the end of last year. Spent the last three months focusing on myself and working through it. Start a new job on Monday I'm excited about and feel revitalised and can't wait.

I spent a lot of my time off walking on my own. Seeing family. And taking things at my own pace, not worrying about pleasing everyone.

Firstly, suffering from mental health issues doesn't make you weird

Secondly - OMG I'm on a knife edge with anxiety and stress and can't get an appointment at the quack for love nor money

I hope you have better days soon OP

We are all weird in our in way I don't get depressed any more but I exercise like a maniac so that helps. When I couldn't do that I got down. This will sound daft but I love walking meditations have a look on YouTube but there is an excellent free one at a website called mindtravel

I think most of us struggle. It's good to remember you're not alone.

I would recommend that you stop putting pressure on yourself. If you've been injured and you can't work, take time to heal and then focus on finding work. Something will come along. If you're not having success on here, do not take it personally. So many men go through the same thing and it is nothing against you even if it feels like it is. It's not easy on here.

I find fresh air helps, and trying to distract myself with whatever I can. Don't be afraid to reach out for professional support if you need it, maybe look for some local hobby groups that could get you out and about. And always talk about how you're feeling and never keep it bottled up.

Sending love.

I have ADHD which means I overthink and over analyse everything which causes my anxiety...

Time of the month exacerbates it and then my MH crashes... and then I overthink...

Music or low level static helps along with driving, if I'm driving I have to focus my kinaesthetic brain

Somewhere near here

I have peaks and troughs, usually situational. Walking is my coping strategy, 99.9% of the time it clears my head and resets me. The one time it didn’t I sat in my car and rang someone to talk through my troubles

My anxiety is like a roller coaster. Extremely frustrating when it can spike, often time for no easily identifiable reasons.

Feel fortunate that it's something I've not had major issues with for the last 10 years or so.

Easier said than done, but the trick is to give less of a f**k about everything (except your kids if you have any). Everything else, work, relationships, etc will either work out or it won't regardless of what you say or do.

I've (mr) had depression and bouts of anxiety since we suffered a misscarridge and I lost my grandad on the same weekend, broke me and all the stuff I would bottle up ruined my career, managed a pub then all of a sudden I couldn't do the job I'd been doing for years because I would have random panic attacks.

Therapy didn't really help me, but then again it was a group thing, maybe one to one would have been more effective. What helped me was going to a men's mental health group and hearing their experiences and just having the reassurence that I wasn't alone.

My outlook on everything has changed, calmer, more open to expressing my emotions. Give talking to another man a go. You mite be surprised about relieving it is.

Suffering from anxiety and depression for a few years now as well as anger issues was on medication but recently stopped taking them complete cold turkey I've come to the point where the problems are not with me i think I just have to much common sense for this day and age, so I've reverted back to lashing out and will happily start punching people again who are complete idiot's, plus it helps my anger management

Suffered with mine for over 30 years...

Have learnt how to deal with it most of the time..

My problem is I understand it too much...

The only way now if I get a "blip" is for someone to say something or read something that makes me think about how I'm thinking differently..

I also try to think what I would say to someone else if they said the same to me..

Therefor you need to set yourself goals targets you need something that fills time between work and home and also something that gives you a sense of achievement .. I say it over and over but people dismiss it training gym exercise is key to help all this .. i used to be a nightmare few years ago but I train everyday kick boxing it replaces boredom overthinking anxiety with concentration and it brings me a healthy level of stress where I need to defend myself in the ring .. this is truly one of the best ways to manage it .. it's easy to do nothing and just complain
