bells palsy

well just got out of hospital due to having bells palsy lost sight in 1 eye an face dropped 1 side x

Feel for you. My sister had it last year, she couldn't eat properly, speak, she refused to go out at first as she was sure everyone was looking at her!! But after a few weeks everything improved and she has no lasting side effects. They reckoned all the stress she was under at the time contributed to it happening.

i had bells palsy when i was 18.. i recovered within 3 and half weeks.. it is very very very scary. i woke up and still went to work and i told work what had happened at home,like i couldn't close my eye or drink/eat as it would come bk out etc and a lady there told me at the end of my shift to ring NHS direct and when i got home i did that straight away and found out i was very lucky cause i had just caught it just in time but i hope u recover very soon x

yes i was same went to work just thought was allergic reaction icant shut my eyey having to drink through a straw an not really eating

i was the same.. my speech went and everything.. the week before i had it i had a numb tongue for a few days and my back went etc (even tho i do suffer with my back i have sciatica) even tho iv recovered but even now sometimes i have a spasm(if thats spelt right lol) in my right leg and i walk with a limp.. not trying to scare u haha xx

good luck with that, i've had it myself a few times, takes about 3 months before i get any feeling back in my face.

and its affected my hearing in one ear

just wonder if TENS machine can help with Bell's Palsy? My youngest son has a facial palsy as a result of head injuries suffered when he was knocked over in 2011 and he uses a TENS machine for an hour a day which seems to be helping.

Also understand that ultrasound is being used to treat Bell's Palsy.

Good luck with beating it.

I had quite a bad spell with this in my mid 20s.

I had what I thought was bad earache and went to bed to rest.

I thought I had had a stroke when I woke up to find my face had completely dropped on one side.

It was diagnosed as Bells Palsy and I had several weeks off work as I was constantly dribbling and talking funny (still like that now funnily enough ) and then about 6 months of physio and speech therapy.

Thankfully I had no severe lasting effects - the only legacy I am left with is that when I get tired my left eye closes up compared to the right - which is down to the muscle damage in that eye.

yes im same cant shut or blink with right eye an talking funny too

it will take time but hopefully get there
