Reports that Boris nominated his own father for a knighthood.

Should the honours system be scrapped. It is all over the news

I wouldn't say scrapped, it's a nice way to honour people for their contributions. Though I'm not a fan of sportspeople getting it for being good at sport, outstanding works to charity etc are what I mean. But they might need to rethink the nomination system if people can put forward their own family

Away for Christmas

So essentially a knighthood is just a people version of "new york times best seller" or "game of the year" by this point.

When you think of Sir Gavin Williamson, knighted for his services to.......................?

It does make anyone question the whole honours scheme.

When you see Beryl, 72, from Ipswich in front of the monarch picking up an MBE for helping schoolkids across the road in all weather's for 53 years then it's worth the merit.

Agree with previous post about sportsmen winning stuff for doing essentially their profession.

Maybe wait until they've retired then give it......

The whole thing with former PM's nomination of family members for knighthood stinks of cronyism
