Little moments...

I think sometimes we're so consumed with the "bigger picture" or navel gazing that we forget to stop and appreciate the little things. Mindfully being in a moment and enjoying it. So what recently has brought a smile to your face? It could be climbing into freshly laundered sheets, the perfect hot beverage. That feeling of a hot shower after a long workout, vertically or horizontally.

Earlier I was in a car and it reminded me of being a doe eyed student again. Listening to Arabella, the sun setting in the horizon, relaxing and gently talking on nothing.

Crawling into a hotel bed next to K after a long night out, pulling a second duvet over us and snuggling up to warm her up

Freshly shaved and exfoliated skin sliding into fresh sheets. I woke up this morning with fluffy hair and soft skin and enjoyed my coffee with the sun shining through the window.

Also I have mermaid nails.

Waking up to a pupper pile on a cold day. Watching the sunrise Hearing owls hoot late at night when there is complete silence. Lightning bugs on a quiet summers night.

I woke from night shift to the aroma of slow roasted beef in ale and dauphinoise potaoes wafting through the house, a fresh cup of sweet tea on the bedside table and a kiss to the forehead, it reminded me that Penny had spent the day thinking of me, had made a trip to the shops just to buy the ingredients and had waited patiently to hear me stir so she could spend a little time with me before I had to head back out to work.

Oh god - I love the little things.

I saw a toddler today who decided to just stare at me and smile - that warmed my heart.

Giggling like a child when driving around with my 16 yr old.

I woke up after far too much alcohol & my hair looked amazing & my face didn’t look shit.

I retried a new beverage today & discovered I actually love it.

I’ve written something that has made my cold, black heart flutter.

I’ve had some beautiful conversations.

All of the little things, make up your experiences, which make you. Everything is formed from tiny things making a bigger whole thing.

Hampshire/Dorset

Feeding the squirrels and the birds in the gardens, the robin and blackbirds come right up to me now, the squirrels take peanuts from my hand and the crows follow me when I call them.

There’s a little old lady who comes into my work regularly and she’s always telling me about all the things she likes to bake. Last week she said she made some homemade custard creams and I was telling her how nice they sounded. She came in this week and she had made me some custard creams. I know she doesn’t have much family and her only daughter lives in a different country. I could have cried at how happy it made her

Yes you do. They are majestic and sophisticated, chaos siren.

Love exfoliating, the difference in my skin after it makes me want to slide into bed with a bottle of baby oil and indulge in some narcissistic foreplay.

Smashed the heck out of my new kitchen and found the cutest boards in the ceiling. Proper cottage kinda feel. Giddy with potential for it.

Also, got the uni result in a big way.

Also-also, had an orgasm that was so good I called myself a name and laughed a little bit at the mouth on me.

Probably some other stuff, it's a wacky life pal

After a ruminative post I made this morning, someone I like sent me a message out of the blue just to say hi. It was so nice and unsolicited that it warmed my heart and made me smile.

That was definitely a little thing that felt big (No oo-er missus!!)

Ahhhh and sorry that's probably quite a big thing. The little things you were asking about, sitting down to a yummy Sunday roast today, homemade Yorkshire puddings were delicious.

I played music tonight. Actually going through some of my favourite albums. I’ve not listened to songs like this for a while. I wish I’d done it in a Friday when I could have stayed up late.

It was a real me time.

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

I was given a lovely big double sized bottle of good wine today. It had purple paper tied around the neck like a rubbish bowtie and I loved it.

From this weekend:

Chatting to my eldest about anything and everything. His mind is a marvel.

My youngest's laugh

The cat trying to wake me up by biting mouthfuls of my hair and yanking. Annoying as hell, but I secretly love how much she wants my company.

MrWho taking the piss by doing impressions of me counting to five.

You know the heel of your hand? That fleshy, muscle-y bit at the base of your thumb? I’ve had a thorn stuck under the skin there since Saturday and I just managed to tease it out. The *relief* is like a wave of low-grade ecstasy. I’m smiling involuntarily.

There’s a simple pleasure for ya.

We started with 1, 2, 3 4 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive. It went well. Next week we'll be starting on numbers up to 10 and the basic alphabet.
