Somewhere In The Ether…

Fellow fans; As you know, our main man, Uhtred of Bebbanburg‘s adventures came to a close last year after five wonderful seasons of the show

But wait! - Great news: The curtain is not quite yet ready to fall and it has now been confirmed that Uhtred will polish his sword for one final battle in the promised full length film, ‘Seven Kings Must Die’ which will air on Netflix on the 14th April

Mark it in your diaries good folks

Excellent. I knew there was supposed to be a film coming, but I hadn't heard they'd made it. I look forward to seeing it

I'm looking forward to it. I love the series, the books and audio books. I have just finished the last one and will probably start listening to them from the start again. Wyrd Bid Ful Araed.

Honestly I can't wait. I stopped reading the novels to see the ending of the film first, to avoid spoiling it. I honestly can't wait to see how his story ends!

Reading the novel that correlates loosely with season two now.

Love this series. Spent last weekend in Wiltshire and went round a few areas mentioned in the books.

I saw him in a film called, Heartlock a few years back. It was ok, not great but if a spot of Alexander Dreymon ogling is what you require, it should certainly fit the bill

Oh. Not another Sons of Anarchy thing what’s his name was hot AF (later episodes when he’d grind up) but seen him in something else thought he lost it a bit

I did prefer the earlier series of vikings. Not so keen once it was following the sons as adults.

I'll have to reread all the books.....again

Pretty much all of Eastern and Northern England was occupied by the Danes, the area was known as Danelaw, for 200 years from the 9th century, so it's fairly likely you have Danish ancestry if you're from up that way.

3 out of 4 of my grandparents names all link up to Durham Castle around the time period.

PS looking forward to settling down in front of the telly to watch it tonight

I watched it. Follows very much the route of the series. Good entertainment about a period of UK history seldom brought to the screen.

Spoiler alert: At the end Utred Identifies as a 16 year old nun and marries the King of Albania, after a brief romance.

I enjoyed it but feel it was very rushed. Shit ending though as a lot of the books and even the show have stated the whole story is him at 82 telling his life story to his new wife's songwriter

Love the earlier series for slower pace.

The couple on Netflix go that bit faster.

Loved the movie.(no spoilers)

Probably a bigger fan of the books and the way it brings his thought process in.

I think Alexander Dreymon is superb as Uthred though

He would have been about 80 by the end. The film covers events over about 12 years. If you think he was about 20 when Edward was born, and it ends when Edward's son is about 40, then around 60 years has passed. So he's about 80. He looked bloody hot for an octogenarian

Yes, except for his appalling accent (in the film. Only seen season 1 of series so maybe develops over time but I found it quite jarring)but then I probably could forgo him speaking altogether
