The woman oozes sex appeal at so many levels (and I am straight lol). She looks divine, has curves in the right places, and she can cook...the scrummiest dishes. Call it what you like.. she is an epitome of "womanly" appeal.

I find Nigella attractive despite the fact she's a bit larger than I prefer simply because she seems entirely confortable in her body.

To be fair she's been around for a while, like most people her weight has fluctuated over the years. There have certainly been times when she was properly overweight.

I guess that depends on who is asking the question. What I mean is this.... if her BMI is in excess of say 30... yes she is and doctors would advise her to loose weight. Most blokes (and gals ) would still find her sexy though. Just depends on who is asking the question, I guess?

Well, BMI is obviously only a very rough guide (a while back I had a BMI of 29 but had a half decent six pack) but I'd be surprised if a majority of guys thought your average obese (ie, 30+) woman was sexy. I've not exactly asked them though so that's obviously guesswork. Who knows?

What's your point? It's entirely possible to accept a bj/shag from someone who's out of shape, or at least looks it. Just calling something pish doesn't make it not true.

Because men go on about women being out of shape when they're not 'in shape' themselves. Seems 'out of shape' guys think it's ok but expect women to be magazine perfect. Also think that women of aytypical / individual body shapes should be somehow grateful of any attention NOT

Umm, no, observing that someone is out of shape doesn't mean you *expect* otherwise. It's completely ok for her to be out of shape, her business. No reason she should care what I think any more than I'd care if she observed that I was out of shape (I am, as it happens). What's the problem?

Saying someone is out of shape isn't a moral judgement, it doesn't mean she's dusgusting and should be ashamed of herself. It is just what it is - an observation.

No you're misunderstanding me. I mean on some animal, kind of subconscious level - like women with wide hips and big boobs are attractive because they're ideal for childbearing. It's not a conscious thought, but it may well be an underlying reason.

No, I didn't. Like I said, on some subconscious level it might 'suggest' that, it has nothing to do with actual conscious thoughts. Like in the example I gave - or do you think that men consciously regard women with small hips and boobs as bad mothers?

I think you are right. It is important to do your homework and check surgeons etc...and I d say it is wise to not go for the cheapest option. I have accompanied a few of my friends for different things they had done and all except one who went for the slightly cheaper option were really pleased with their results.

Absolutely. There are so many ads now, so many clinics selling their procedures. My advice would be to go for what you can afford and if you cannot afford quality... save up a bit longer until you can. Really no point going for cheap here.

I have not had facial treatments but if I did I would really do my homework!

Yeh but only a fool would go there to have it done. The people carrying it out where ever they are on flesh that hasn't been damaged are only doing it for the money and taking advantage of people who are either deluded or influenced by the media to have their bodies carved up and artificial items inserted in the skin. I just see people opting for this as lacking self confidence and think they must be pretty sad to put themselves through it.

I suspect those are the core reasons wherever the surgery is done.

The choice of venue seems more about cost.

I dont think that it is always about lack in self confidence. I think most people are naturally born with a desire to look as good as possible. Some, if they can afford to, seek cosmetic surgery to preserve their looks. Of course there is a possibility of taking this too far and then they can end up looking like Pete Burns...

I would consider very carefully if I was to have anything done to my face etc... but hey as and when I fancy it... I would.

I'm guessing here but I suspect there are at least 10 times the number of women having some for of cosmetic surgery as there are men.

I think you are right that there is much more pressure on women to look a certain way than there is on men. Whether or not people subscribe to that is sometimes a matter of self estemm but more often a matter of trying to maintain their looks because "they can" and also because they can afford it.

And I d say... why not? If you are a middle aged man and fancy a sports car... or do somethings you perhaps should leave to those 20 years younger... why not?

We have one chance of life... and I d say lets enjoy it in the way we want. Whatever that means to the individual!

Even if that's true it doesn't make it a sexist issue - it's still individuals that need to dealing with it. All the sexism card seems to do is shift blame off the individuals and I don't see how that helps them.

Well, that and it belittles the body issues that men have, even if the number of men with them is smaller. Again, I don't see who that helps.

Ah, there is a whole host of reasons for that particualr surgery, one is being reconstructive after mastectomy, others after substantial weight loss, some after loosing some volume, some just wanting to have the boobs they never had and always wanted... whole host of reasons.

But there are also blokes now (admittedly mainly in the US) who are having boob and bum implants... so go figure

To clarify my point a bit, a person's body issues exist within their own head. Any pressure they feel to look a certain way also exists within their own head. Sure it might be triggered by a magazine, or rude comments or whatever else, but focusing on those triggers is not helpful to the person with issues.

In fact it's the exact opposite of what they need to be doing, which is ignoring those triggers and dealing with the internal problem. Saying it's a sexist issue seems to externalise the problem in a way, make it sound like it's a real entity, out there in the world, that's pressuring people.

Sorry, but that's just an excuse. Nobody can pressure you but you.

Yeah of course, all the more reason they shouldn't be given excuses and people to blame such that they start to feel their issues are external. You can't deal with a problem (the internal problem) if you don't have to admit that it exists.

I think you have a really good point here. Sometimes it really is about self esteem and when that is the case counselling (at least initially) is possibly a better way of addressing those issues. I completely agree that in those cases it is not about sexism and that that suggestion is not helpful.

Sometimes people feel the need to become something they are not only to please a partner - this rarely works in the long run.

In other cases people choose to enhance their image not out of weakness or low self esteem or deeper underlying psychological issues but purely because they can. Just like they can go on a holiday, buy a new car, move to a bigger house or whatever way they wish to spend their money.

Well... there's midlife crises and there's midlife crises. It's just terminology, but you might want to say everyone who buys a harley in their 40's is having a midlife crisis but some midlife crises aren't really problems, just natural processes. Or something like that.

Someone was telling me the other day a newspaper did a thing on Nigella and Gillian McKeith.

Apparently they are both the same age, one eats a ridiculously strict and responsible diet the other eats what the fuck she likes with extra lard on.

I know which one I would drill.
